Termyn8or -> RE: Huge solar flare jams radio, satellite signals (2/18/2011 12:47:42 AM)

When I ws young I used to DX TV. We had an RCA with what was caled a nuvista tuner. It used a nuvistor type tube in the tuner, a new design that gave it superior sensitivity. From Cleveland, we had no problem getting CFPL in Canada, and a few others up there, and Detroit was no problem. Toledo was a piece of cake. I got Pennsylvania a time or two, but not consistently. But that was analog TV. I also tried to get the best FM recievers or tuners. I know the difference between the uV rating and the impedance, which will be 75 or 300. I also know about the "quieting curve". I persued this, for no other reason but desire.. It never made me a dime. Well I did give some pretty sharp advice on the subject on the net recently, but still no dime. Just so hapens my hillbilly was over tonight and he was saying that I should put up an 11 meter antenna in the back, and he would supply it, tower and everyhing. He wants me to go into CB radios and such, maybe I should. I wonder how long this solar flare effect wll last. I'll have to hit wiki and figure out all that. Sidereal year, rotation rate of the sun, ba da bing, ba da boom. T^T
