Ed Rendell On Postponed Eagles-Vikings Game: 'I Think It Is A Joke'
...it had been moved 2x.  In a way- I agree with the move- as it would be dumb to tie up EMS on a game when there was a snow storm...

So youre one of the wimps.

Oh no! A whole FOOT of snow! The world is coming to an end! The apocalypse is nigh!

Seriously though, you know what I tend to do when it's dropping a foot overnight? Throw snowballs at the sky and tell it to stop being such a candy-ass and snow twice as hard. Then I grab my gear, call my executive chef and head up to the slopes.

Why don't we just eliminate tackling and put flags on the players for the game too. And hey! Instead of having them run out onto the field, we could push them out in strollers.

Cold beer sales would be down, sure, BUT, it's not difficult to make a shitload of hot cocoa, and sell those for $5/cup. That would be a lot higher profit margin too. Those gloves and hats and jackets in the gift shop... SOLD OUT! I'm talking, in a matter of seconds!

Granted, in a way, I kind of dig this. I get football one MORE night this week! See, that always did kind of annoy me. Let's put all the games on one day! Yay... now the rest of the week if I want to watch sports, I have to watch basketball. BLEH! No thank you. Maybe a hockey game if I'm lucky and some godly beast decides to graciously air one. But, overall, yes, I agree... bunch of pathetic sissies, not even the GOOD kind of cute sissies, just the useless lumberjack looking wimps in pink skirts.

To be frank--  I have no interest in watching a football game.   Rain of shine.

Ed Rendell is doing his best imitation of a broken clock!

Seriously... there was ZERO reason to move this game other than secret wish that every NFL team play in a dome.

servantforuse -> RE: FOOTBALL DELAY OUTRAGES FANS: 'NATION OF WIMPS'... (12/27/2010 5:10:25 PM)

That would never happen in Green Bay. I've been in Lambeau Field in a lot worse conditions than that. We even made it back to our motel.

DesFIP -> RE: FOOTBALL DELAY OUTRAGES FANS: 'NATION OF WIMPS'... (12/27/2010 5:12:33 PM)

There had already been over 30 accidents 8 hours prior to game time. The liability of fans being hurt driving home is what caused them to delay this. The other way would have been to have refunded all the ticket money but there's no way the owners would have done that.

It was about fans and money,  not about players.

FatDomDaddy -> RE: FOOTBALL DELAY OUTRAGES FANS: 'NATION OF WIMPS'... (12/27/2010 5:51:56 PM)

Really??? Because the snow didn't start until about 3 hours before the game and places like Montgomery County, PA and Wilmington, DE got less than two inches TOTAL.

The Mayor of Philadelphia is on record as not only being opposed but not being consulted, The Governor of Pennsylvania has likewise said he was opposed and never consulted, this was all about the NFL and their desire to limit
the possibility of a play-off birth being decided by the elements.

Plus.... what  you mean refund? There was never a discussion of a refund.... if you play and 20 people show up and 70k stay home because its cold, there is no refund.

They could have easily played that game.

So what? Last week when the Bears played the Vikings on Monday night in Minneapolis, we had 8 inches of snow, with up to 15 predicted, and there were hundreds of accidents. The league didn't say Word One about "fan safety" that night, and no refunds were issued to ticketholders who stayed home. There never are. There was absolutely no good reason at all for postponing this game - none. As far as I know, it's never been done before in the history of the NFL, so why now all of a sudden? It makes absolutely no sense at all, and sets a very troubling precedent.

In all fairness, I'd say that after any given NFL game there are 30 accidents on the way home. Why? Cause they're fuckin DRUNK.

pahunkboy -> RE: FOOTBALL DELAY OUTRAGES FANS: 'NATION OF WIMPS'... (12/27/2010 6:28:31 PM)

Why should EMS tend to drunk game goers- when  others may need more urgent attention?

Don't they always  "need" a new stadium? ;-)

Domes are for sissies.

By 2035... the NFL will have every one of their teams playing in convertible domes

Which then raises the question of why you started a football thread.

CerVeza -> RE: FOOTBALL DELAY OUTRAGES FANS: 'NATION OF WIMPS'... (12/28/2010 5:49:33 AM)

Yeah, it was silly to postpone until TUESDAY... omg. All that global warming from the sky.
