So hard to pick just one.... this one comes to mind: I was called to aid a patient in cardiac arrest at an assisted living. When I got there, sure enough, there was an elderly woman at the bottom of the stairs, in cardiac arrest, and my team and I began resuscitation efforts. A young man (30s or so), identified himself as her son, was there on his cell phone, and I assumed he must be on the phone with another family member to let them know what's happening. I had to ask him to please get off the phone so I could get some vital medical info/history from him. He did one of those "hold on a second" on the phone--and said, "so, is she dead?" He then stepped over the body (we were still working on her) like it was a log in the forest, and said, something to the effect of, "I really don't care. Just let me know where you're taking her--I'm making plans for later and don't want to have to drive cross town." When I looked over, the patient's friends were all standing right there.
