heh, a lot of us got taken down a notch or two right after we declared, with self-satisfied smugness, "I know what it's all about!"

I am grateful for...

1.  That I am alive...woohoo...didn't think I would be.  I survived lymphoma four times and have been in remission about five years now, give or take a year.  It is soooo good to lose track of when I had it last.

2.  I am grateful for my son, my mother, my Cousin Jill, and all my furbabies (six of them, aargh); for memories of loved ones that are no longer with me; and for making new friends.

3.  I am grateful for my hundred something year old house, that always has something going wrong with it...

4.  I am grateful for my new (okay, got it about 3 years ago, lol) used minivan that is nineteen years old.  I'm trying to see if I can eventually turn her into an antique...it's my favorite car and I will be upset when she no longer runs.

5.  I will have to copy number one from pam's list, slightly edited:
quote:

The fact that i have ... a place to live, and enough to eat. There have been times when i haven't had those things. i know there are many people nowadays who don't have those things, through no fault of their own. i feel for them.

6.  I am grateful that we have one decent buffet in town, and that it's Chinese food.  I love eating the meat and veggies...with chopsticks.

7.  I am grateful for friends that I have had for 17 to twentysomething years even though they can drive me mad.  When I was a kid, we lived in a new state or city almost every year, so it has been a strange thing for me, getting used to having others outside of immediate family in my life over the years.

8.  I am grateful for chocolate.  What Hershey took away, my favorite variety, angelicaJ found on a website for me...and next month, I will be baking brownies and chocolate cake for the first time in years.  Yes indeedy...I stopped baking those when Hershey retired my favorite European Style dutched cocoa powder.  I am going to be almost drunk on cocoa powder the entire month of December, lol.

9.  I am grateful for...my inner child

10.  I am grateful for this old cranky computer that I bought at a no-kill animal shelter's second hand store...for only $25.

11.  I am grateful for...books, and movies on DVD.

12.  I am grateful that I love knitting hats, making crazy quilts by hand, sewing stuff with a machine, and crafts.

I am grateful for family, friends and furbabies.

I am grateful for a job and a home.

I am grateful for finally having developed enough wisdom (as ephemeral as it seem to be) to learn when to say ENOUGH.

I am grateful for knowing that who I am NOW is not who I WAS, nor is it who I WILL be.

I am grateful that I have finally learned that some regrets are necessary.. they only make me a stronger and hopefully wiser person.

I am grateful for the friends I have and for the fact that sometimes friends can love you as much as family, that is a new revelation for me.

I am grateful that I have all of my creatures (6) snuggled inside on this freezing cold night.

I am grateful that I have a man that loves me and I don't live in  the past anymore.

I am grateful that I have enough, and thankful that I realize that.

Wow!  I heard the greatest radio commercial about this today.

I am grateful for electricity.  Without light in the evenings, I couldn't read.

I am grateful for indoor plumbing.

I am grateful for enough food on My plate.

I am grateful for warm clothes.  Even the types that aren't the height of fashion, but keep Me warm.

I am grateful for clean drinking water.

I am grateful for toilet paper.

I am grateful for plankton.  They keep the universe in balance in their way.

I am grateful for the advantages that the information age has afforded Me.  I am grateful that I do not have to experience the same difficulties as other generations did.

I am grateful that I recognize the opportunities that some take for granted.  To do so, would condemn Me to selfishness.

Best wishes to those who appreciate the simple things....... And those who do not.

... that the guy I work with had this week off for vacation. While I might have enjoyed having this week off myself, the blessed peace and quiet at work has been a real treat.
