I'm currently working on an analysis essay over the Black Plague in 14th century Europe. I'm having trouble finding reliable resources (journal articles, actual goverment statistics, ect.) I don't just want what pops up first in google. If anyone could help me out that would be fantastic, thank you!

Have you thought about doing an Amazon search and then cross referencing authors, or making a list for your library or whatever?
There are ample historical references.

Try this one as a start-

and contact the authors listed to see if they have some ideas on where to find additional sources.

With careful research which means cross-referencing your sources, there is plenty of available information and I am not sure (and this is an question and not intended as an insult) why you are having difficulty.

My main problem is i'm not finding reliable and in depth sources. It's all very basic information geared to people that have NO prior knowledge of the subject, think middle school or early high school paper. I'm just wanting to go a little more in depth. But thank you all.

I would think that your college library would have resources on file and provide you with access to academic journals.

Surely not all of them are geared towards school kids?

Me thinks someone procrastinated and is wanting other people to do all of her work for her.

(and when people do so the very least would be to say thanks)

I did procrastinate. I also said thank you to those that had posted earlier. I haven't kept the message boards up to check every five minutes because I am trying to cut down distractions.
I'm not sure how asking if anyone knew of good sources is asking other people to do all the work for me, I wasn't asking you to run out and research the topic yourself. I'm not trying to be rude. But I don't like being accused of that. This isn't strictly a fact-listing paper, the key idea is to analyze information. That's not what I was asking for at all, i'm terribly sorry if it came across that way.

There's no need to bite my head off for trying to pick some brains here that are without a doubt more knowledgable then my own. I wasn't forcing anyone to assist me.
Again, thank you to those that have added your input.

Edited to add..my thank you was even in the part that you quoted, just thought I would point that out.

There are these people called librarians.  We aren't them.

I don't understand the desire to be nasty. Don't want to help? That's completely fine, don't. Some people have no problem with it. I was nothing but polite with my request, and last I checked I wasn't hurting a thing.

Sweetie,

You call that my biting your head off? You have got to be joking.

I did not accuse you of anything; I merely pointed out that your assertion that the information wasn't technical enough was incorrect, were you to look.
That is not an accusation. That is fact.

I gave you quite a few sources, more than what I listed here and when someone takes time to send you links with numerous sources , common courtesy would have been to say thank you, by hitting the reply button. (I do hope you copied and pasted the links I sent, as I deleted the cmail I sent, once it seemed you were done with it... otherwise... oops)

You're right. I should have personally replied to say thank you individually, I was clicking on links and got distracted. So thank you AngellikaJ, I really appreciate it.

I sincerely don't mean that in a sarcastic way. It just seems pretty common for people to get hostile here for little to no reason, so my guard flew up quick =)

Eh... if you want the cynical answer - you are an incredibly new poster asking for help with a research paper. It could easily come across as you want people to do your work for you.

That said... I've done similiar things on here and not gotten my head bitten of - I assume because I was a well, or fairly well at any rate, established poster at that point. Please don't take this the wrong way but it's kinda like walking into a room of people you don't know at all and asking for help on a random topic. It's not exactly rude but people are going to have mixed responses to it.

As for me, I'm trying to remember the name of a book I read that dealt with the black plague. All I can remember is it's title was short with a rat on the cover. Not terribly helpful I know.

Oooo woot! Found it on amazon!

http://www.amazon.com/Black-Death-Natural-Disaster-Medieval/dp/0029123704/ref=pd_sim_b_2

I don't recall the specifics of it but this book came recamended by my college professors when I was dealing with the subject matter.

Also this one looked cool:

http://www.amazon.com/Great-Mortality-Intimate-History-Devastating/dp/0060006935/ref=pd_sim_b_1

Good luck and hopefully we'll be seeing more of you on the forums.

I was going to suggest pirate bay, but Rule beat me to it. So I offer a +1.

Also, for inoculation against virulent postings, I recommend 4chan. There is nowhere better to get an idea of what meanies mean online... heheheh... You could start by making a thread there about how people shouldn't call other people by racial epithets. If you do, please point me to the thread. I want to see what happens to you. Er, what nice things people say.

Thank you guys.

And as far as me being a new poster, I do see your point. I didn't mean anything bad by it however, i'm just more of a lurker and don't much care of sharing my opinion on things.. even more so now! haha

Sad.

That's what forums are for. Sharing your opinions in a safe environment, so you can shake the bugs out of them.

You may get hate, but it will rarely follow you home. That is, unless you post a vid of kicking a cat on 4chan, then it will follow you to your home, your work, your family, your Facebook account, your credit score...
