I was totally knocked out for my emergency c-section. as others have posted, the surgery is a piece of cake compared to the next 25 and counting years.

you will be fine, and for the next few weeks, say yes to drugs.

Can't advise about the C-section, but one thing that worked for me about being a single parent and doing it all on my own at 22 was this: I thought about the sorriest excuse for a parent amongst the people I knew. And I thought to myself, "If Alice can do this, so can I, and I can do it MUCH better than she can!"

Yeah, I know, it's a bit negative, but it sure worked for me!

There are a ton of things you can worry about.  Or you can become informed, give some thought to how you want to parent.  Giving birth is the easy part, as far as the hard part, raising the child, be present, watch your child's cues, allow the child to lead, you will grow as your child grows.  It is an awesome experience that continues into your child's adulthood.  As far as birth stories, they are going to be as varied as all of us...I have 2 with no epidural or pain relief, it was uncomfortable, but not extremely painful.

Hi, i REALLY understand how you feel. i have had 3 c-sections. Its not bad really, you will be sore, but not in agony. Coughing, and laughing will be a drag for about a week to 10 days.

In The Netherlands in 1970 two per cent of births were by c-section. These days it is more than 15 per cent. 70 per cent of Dutch births are in a hospital.
