Popeye, I feed my cats the hairball formulations of food, and use the hairball remedy paste, and yet they still hack up hellaciously HUGE hairballs. Keep feeding him the dry food, and visit the vet. Hairballs can cause all sorts of nasty problems, especially if they get big enough to cause a blockage. And mine can hack for days before they get one up. Does Bubba vomit after eating? That is an almost guaranteed sign of a hairball, as the food is unable to pass thru the intestines, and it has to go somewhere.

The wild worm theory aside, it sounds like Bubba needs the doc....lucky you! Good luck, sending {{{{{hugs}}}}} to Bubba.

If the cat was de-wormed as a kitten and does not go outside it will not get worms.

I was just wondering about these last few words on ensuring the correct diet for one's pet cat, are people as knowledgeable and rigorous in their own diets, do they ensure they eat the right things to ward off potential problems in their own lives, or is it a case of do what I say, not what I do.

Pahunk is correct though, intestinal parasites can be picked up anywhere in the house as a house is not a sterile enviroment and can never be unless rigorous sterilising procedures are gone through every time one enters the house, themselves, their clothes and whatever they bring in, and the house itself is hermetically sealed from the outside world.

Jesus. H. Christ. Why did I read that? I have a cat that likes to crawl up under the covers and snuggle in the crook of my bended knees. (I sleep on my side). I imagine if she had worms I'd be dead by now.

Whoa, no need to be defensive PA.

No, you never did, it was just a reminder that commercial food is better than the alternative.

And you are absolutely right about the other, I was entirely wrong about that and I know better.

Also as discussed on the other thread cats can get tapeworms from ingesting fleas but they come out the other end and generally that type poses no danger to people.

- the Chinese cat food killed my aunts cat.

the thing is- food can be sold under various names.

IMO the quality of the food- (same with our food supply) is dismal.

Even if you buy name brand- it is poor quality- as compared to food in 70s-80s.

BTW_ I am not worried of catching worms from my cat.
