My cat did a bit of that, the hairball manouver without any hairballs coming forth when I first gave her dry food that claimed to control hair balls, I thought perhaps the food had an intestinal irritant in it that was supposed to make hairball lobbing a daily thing, small hairballs as opposed to the massive alien thing that erupts forth from the cat every once in a while,I suppose daily lobbing is better than that. But my cat doesn't seem to have any major problems now with the fur, ever since I noticed she had a liking for organic coconut oil, the result being, she gets a few fingertips full of rapidly melting coconut oil each day, I say melting, because she prefers to rasp the liquid off my fingers, coconut oil liquifies rapidly with body heat. I use the coconut oil for my hair, ( how I discovered cat likes it too, tried to lick my hair), and have noticed my cat now has a very shiny sleek coat, and though I check regularly for matted fur, due to her being a long hair cat and has a history of it, I can find none these days, perhaps it is the coconut oil as she preens herself and cat allergic friends are not so irritated now, so who knows.
