From the article: quote:
Earlier, Bale told The Sun newspaper that she could not understand "what the fuss is about", saying her action was "a joke" and adding: "It's just a cat." Petting an animal, scruffing it and then dumping it into a closed garbage can, and she sees NOTHING wrong with this. If she had had a twinge of conscience, she would have gone back and let the animal out but she let it sit there for something like 16 hours. Having 6 of my own and two who have disappeared in the past few years...her pulling this "prank" and saying it's just a cat like that makes everything okay makes me so glad I don't live in the UK. (I'd get into trouble with God cuz I'd be tempted to teach her all about jokes that weren't funny.) quote:
But she later issued a statement saying: "I want to take this opportunity to apologise profusely for the upset and distress that my actions have caused. "I cannot explain why I did this, it is completely out of character and I certainly did not intend to cause any distress to Lola or her owners." Funny how having her name all out there for the world to see, and time for people to react would make her start singing a different tune. I wonder about the cat owner's car now, the one that kept getting bumped...I have a nasty suspicious mind I try to keep leashed, but anyone who would cause a neighbor to suffer by attacking their beloved pet wouldn't be above abusing their car too. I've had neighbors who slashed my tires, unscrewed the oilpan, put dents from kicking, and scratches from something like a key...yeah, they were lovely neighbors to have. I am so glad they had cameras and caught it. quote:
Bale, who is now under investigation by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA), added: "It was a split second of misjudgment that has got completely out of control." Out of control? Bwahahahaha...*coughs*...ahem... Good. I hope she gets enough attention that she actually learns something from this...if not empathy...then fear. Of being watched. Of retaliation. Some people don't break laws because they are afraid of being caught and punished. If this had been MY cat...and she was unrepentent as I still read her to be...and she could do it again and again or do something even worse... What she did isn't (yet) illegal in the UK, so I wonder if because of this some law will be passed to cover something like this soon. Govts. are short on cash right now, so a big fine would be a good start. Since I judge people on how they treat animals AND children...I would want a broader investigation unleashed. If I were that neighbor, I'd want her to be forced to move out of my neighborhood, as a restraining order wouldn't work if she lived just a house or two away. Since there will probably be no legal recourse...I hope she is hounded until she moves away. I know that might seem like overkill to many, but if someone did this to a human child instead of a furbaby her butt would be in some serious trouble. Some people don't have a conscience and hurt animals. My father was one of these people. This news story pushes my buttons in a major ugly way.
