ProlificNeeds -> I put on my robe and wizard hat! (8/2/2010 11:38:45 AM)

Okay so lots of us love to put on kinky, sexy or just plain weird accessories and 'outfits' such as they are when we get our kink on. We're use to it, we marvel at it, some of us even die for it. But have you ever -looked- at some of these cape-wearing, masked, leather bound bodies we enjoy, with the eyes of an 'outsider'?

Have you ever come across a particular fashion statement that even you wanted to laugh at? (but lets hope you politely did not! .. unless spankings were involved)

I admit I've been away from the kinksters for some time now and my life has been pretty vanilla, so when I came back to browsing profiles and so on, I find myself looking at some pictures and going "wow... WOW! Do you really wear that?" Then I think back to some of the things I or my previous partners have worn, and yes I do a little 'wowing' again.

Have you ever come across getups you find particularly funny or entertaining? (In the good way I certainly don't want to hear slanderous 'her ass was so fat' type stories.)

One of the ones that made me 'wow' today was capes.. capes, cloaks, long flowy things that make you look like a super hero or villain who forgot their tights. I use to actually cos-play a fair bit when i was involved in Live Action RolePlaying events some years back, so I may have worn a flowy object a time or two myself. I can safely say I never wore one in the bedroom though.

I generally don't look at things with the eyes of an outsider, I look at things with the eyes of myself -- If other people don't like things that I like, then, it doesn't really affect me at all, so, fnord.

As far as capes and any type of long flowy thing -- Long flowy things are just plain awesome, period.

I grew up with Disneyland, and love seeing costumes.  It's a shame that Halloween comes only once per year, because that's when I can get away with dressing up in this small town I live in.  Also when a Harry Potter movie is playing at the theater, that's when the family wears wizards' robes and brings wands along.  The tall hats are for the line, not the actual movie watching, cuz the person behind me might wish to say "avada kedavra" LOL.

As far as wearing a costume of some sorts within a scene, I have not.  I don't have any Ren Faire type corset patterns or I would get on with making some just for fun.  If they turned out looking the way I planned, yes, I would wear them within a scene.

I have enjoyed wearing my favorite black jeans and a black blouse, but in the past two years my life became more sedentary (injured both knees), I put on 12 lbs and the jeans won't fit so I had to pack them away until they do again.  I cannot find them in a larger size here in Bluefield.  I'm using that SimplyFruit concentrated cherry juice as an anti-inflammatory and it's working, so I am not spending so much time on the couch.

I have always loved capes...

If you want to talk costumes, this is a great time to give a heads up to Folsom Street Fair that is next month.  I got to go for My first time last year and the thing that blew Me away the most were the folks in costumes.  Everything from drag, to fetish, to complete head to toe puppy and pony play outfits.  I was absolutely thrilled with the folks who went all out in the San Fransisco heat, wearing full evening gowns and high heels that I wouldn't have made it across the parking lot wearing.  So many had paid such time and attention to detail that they were just fabulous.  Those folks in costumes made a huge impression on Me for their dedication.

If I were in a more active area for such things I'd probably get back into it. Sadly I moved from the greater toronto area out to the sticks on the east coast, so it's quite hard to find time(and the money) to travel to any large affairs.

When I saw the title of this thread I thought it was going to be about the EPIC Sexy Ninja IM's.

jujubeeMB -> RE: I put on my robe and wizard hat! (8/2/2010 2:59:25 PM)

If I could get away with it, I'd wear Hogwarts schoolgirl uniforms all the livelong day. But that's because I'm a dork [:D]

If someone wants to wear a giraffe costume and do the hokey pokey before blowing their partner who is dressed as Ronald McDonald, more power to them. I would not mesh well with someone who did such a thing and took themselves seriously, but as I have a secret desire to have someone dressed as Severus Snape tie me to a desk and do all sorts of inappropriate things to me, I don't think it's my place to judge anyone else's fantasy wardrobe [;)]

Chrisincuffs -> RE: I put on my robe and wizard hat! (8/2/2010 3:08:02 PM)

I think some of the pet fetish stuff makes me giggle. I guess I just don't know enough about it and have always associated it with a softer form of zoophilia. No offense to those who are into that, I'm just not

Aileen1968 -> RE: I put on my robe and wizard hat! (8/2/2010 3:13:52 PM)

I'm sorry, but I think this kind of stuff is ridiculous.
I may not laugh in someone's face, but you can bet your ass I will when we leave.

Personally I think you'd look GREAT in a schoolgirl outfit...but then again I went to private school in my teens so I have a thing for those plaid skirts.[;)]

SorceressJ -> RE: I put on my robe and wizard hat! (8/2/2010 6:44:24 PM)

Hmm, I think I'd rather dress up like McGonagle (sp?), minus about 40 years. It's a HouseMistress thing yanno, and plus I really dig her hat.

I say we start a new site of crazy hat fetish porn...Hot girls wearing dunce caps, beanies with the little propellers, great big furry russian hats, cat in the hat hats.....

Professor Snape!  Yum.  You have good taste.  The real measure of dorkyness: have you ever read sexually explicit fan fiction about Severus Snape? [;)]

I'm probably more prone to laugh (on the inside of course) at the normal things people in the scene wear as opposed to their costumes.  It seemed to me there were a lot of nerd types.

Are you saying Shore doesn't own leather pants? That's so wrong!

Yessssss, lol.  I used to go to Lord and Lady Snape or something, and I think the name was changed to Ashwinder, but when my old computer went down I lost the link.

junecleaver...do you know where it is?  [:D]

And this is bad how? Just sayin'. [;)]

I'm reminded of the guy in the pig costume. With all the veiled references to pork, bacon, bad boy, etc. My brain seg-faulted before I managed to really take it in. Some things are better left undiscovered...

Severus Snape and a desk? Hmm [;)] If Severus Snape is not available do you have someone else in mind? Oh yes I am sure the desk can be provided with zero problems...

HeavansKeeper -> RE: I put on my robe and wizard hat! (8/3/2010 12:49:13 AM)

I've never been too interested in any fetish wear for men. It's probably heavily biased by my gender preference, but leather, latex, buckles etc. just look out of place on a man. I understand the fetishes, and the symbolism often associated with it, and I certainly wouldn't laugh at any man wearing these "mainstream" BDSM items... But I just wouldn't feel comfortable in it. I'd rather have a tuxedo, a sharp suit, or a smoking jacket.
