So you know the e-mail. You have money coming to you in the way of millions of dollars if you would just do such and such. Or there is a business venture that you will recieve a tidy sum.

So we are all smart enough to spot them, right?

So is there any agency to report these scams or forward the e-mail and info to anybody?

The great wiki of the Internet brings together all the wealth of knowledge in true democracy.

That's why everything on the Internet is true, despite what the biased media try to tell you.

I was watching an episode of "Intervention" on A&E recently and the interventee was so fucked up on drugs that he had lost $600K over the last five years to internet scams, or so the show said.

If he's that stooooooopid he doesn't deserve the $600K. To not let this go on is, in a way, to reward failure.

Get used to it.

No, you can report them all you like.

They did an indepth interview on these kind of scams and followed actual products TO AFRICA. Even though it had a GPS on it, it could not be located and it was suggested that members of African Military are all involved in the Product Scam, Like Package Sitting and Delivery.

The saddest ones about Internet Scams is that in the end you are WILLINGLY giving money for what equates to nothing anyway. You are asked to pay a fee to receive a bank transaction from a bank you do not have an account with.

When in doubt call you own bank and ask them, they will 99.9% of the time tell you that what you are being asked to do does not make any sence.

Finally transfer of money from another country usually requires a special type of account, if you do not have that kind of account then you are literally sending you money for noting.

The FBI, The Police, and so many others have said SO many times, there is nothing they can do, even though you are being scamed you really have nothing to go on. E-mail addresses and IP Addresses and things none of them help the police. Unless you have Video of them doing it and can prove exactly what they are doing on this video. Then you go nothing.

Education is the Key, Educate yourself and anyone you know about how these scams work. I had a few very good friends get scammed cause they were lonely and thought they were helping a woman come to this county and get Greencards for 7 years of marriage and at the end their family would pay 25,000 dollars to them for helping them out but in order for them to leave the country they needed a Western Union for the Air Travel, Exact Ammounts of $635.19 they checked the airline and that was infact the after tax amount of the flight, so they sent it. Never head from the girl again.

I have learned that if it is worth doing do it right. Do some investigation. By Refundable flight tickets. Investigate who they say they are, what they do who they are.

Google the name and group all these people say they are with and you will almost always be informed that it is indeed a scam.

I'm still flabbergasted anyone would fall for these.

But then, people fall for "Oh, we need your password, please send it." I don't understand that one either.

QSM nailed it. There is no agency that will do anything about scam mail. That said, there are scam warning sites such as scamwarners.com where you can post the letters that you receive, complete with email address. Those sites are indexed by Google, and some potential victims are bright enough to google the email address or part of the letter, and will find out quickly that it is a scam and where they can educate themselves to recognize scam mails when they see them.

They're the telemarketers of our current decade. Before you ended up with crappy magazines, now you lose your house and savings.

I had a date once with a woman who was telling me this story about some poor guy she met on the internet.

He was stuck out of the country and needed a little help.

I was listening and staring at her...... she tells me how he disappeared for adopt a month, after she sent him 2000.00.

She was really worried. He came back with a story of sickness and recovery. He needed another 2000.00 but sadly she only had 1500.00.

It was when he went off on her, after getting the 1500.00 that she began to suspect something was up.

After dinner I said," well this has been interesting but I am going home now". She asked if we would see each other again.

I told her I didn't think it would work out between us. I was very polite but I was really thinking, my god you are too fucking STUPID for me to date.

Im told that a group of Vets with particular skills reversed the scam late in 2008, set up dummy accounts after baiting a scammer for 5 months during which time the Vets character ended up speaking to someone other than the person who made the original contact.

The last contact was met in Mexico as a goodwill gesture in a nice hotel room where banking details for a telegraphic transfer were passed from the scammer to the "Scammee" to supposedly fund a program for orphaned children in an African country and their final contact spoke excellent english and indicated that they had been educated in the United Kingdom probably the son of a diplomat at some stage.

The deal went ahead and a goodwill amount of $5000 USD was wired from an offshore account to the scammers account via laptop and electronic banking although the details related were hazy.

Deal done the parties went their separate way and negotiations were to continue in 2 days for half a mill USD "for the children".

What the scammers didnt know was that the room was set up to record the details of the electronic transaction and the phone call to the bank was also recorded.

Im told that the amount "Liberated" from the scammers account was substantial.

There have also been numerous sting operations set up by various media outlets from the UK and USA where they have caught and video'd the culprits doing what they do.

Regardless of all the public information on this type of scam or Phishing expedition there is an idiot born every minute and millions of east afrikans ready to pull this scam and as a numbers game they are winning.

"Im told that the amount "Liberated" from the scammers account was substantial. "

I would like to do something like his. We can't count on anyone to protect us.

Tony is an asshole. You can drink with him and a few other things but still an asshole, but deserving of respect. One dat a would be robber approached him as he walked away from an ATM machine after making a withdrawal. The crook said "I'll take that money". Tony said "Do you have a gun ?' The response was no. Then he asked "Do you have a knife ?" again the response was in the negatory. Tony proceeded to pound this guy into the pavement and took HIS money. This happened in Cleveland Ohio.

I love stories like this, where a crook just happens across the wrong victim, and becomes the victim. You gambled and just lost. and you're lucky not to have lost your life. I dunno about that robbeer by the ATM, but I'm told there was a hell of alot of blood and none of it was Tony's. DIE MOTHERFUCKER ! Know what it feels like to really lose. But a motherfucker like that, I would rather break both his legs so badly that he never walks again, and make him live his life like that.

In my view, justice sometimes must be worse than death. What if it was one of your Womenfolk at that ATM ? What if the robber is horny ? You can't predict what these subhumans will do and as such should be removed. And that means dead.
