Valyraen -> RE: They are Remaking Wonder Woman! (6/30/2010 5:29:57 PM)

I'm sure, if I tried real hard, I could whip up something about... yeah, y'know, I'm not even gonna try to justify it. Honestly, though, I love the idea of Wonder Woman - a girl who's able to go toe-to-toe with the boys on their best days and hold her own. As a comic book character she's been an incredible role model for (I'm sure many) women and an inspiration for similar archetypes of female empowerment and independence. I just think it's high time that they updated her image - the character was conceived and the original outfit designed during the 40s, when comics were far less forward-thinking than they are now, and even a strong female archetype had to be sexed up in order to be taken at all. Honestly, let's look at her outfit - cleavage-baring top with bared shoulders, skin-tight bodysuit, and bottoms that can barely cover hers. I'm personally far more inclined, at the first glance, to take the new outfit seriously than I've ever been with her old duds.
