Heather Havilevsky, the TV critic for Salon, noted that the LOST writers threw out all the rules when writing the show. The question is, did they cross the line and become "ridiculous" or did they become pioneers? It took me a while to realize that the show was neither an adventure - rescue epic or good guys v. bad guys drama. It was brilliant how Jack, Kate, Hurley, Syaid, Sun, and Ben all decided to go back to the island. My biggest pet peeve was "filler," having needless, non plot facilitating flashbacks during times I wanted the central story advanced. But, the writers put this practice to bed by setting a deadline for the show --- after which things were kept quite interesting and entertaining at virtually all times. I surely hope that all my "issues" are being worked out in an alternate universe, and I wonder how I'd cope with life and death struggles on a beautiful island about which I was unaware in my hum-drum existence here. I would also like to experience time travel and visitations with the dead. Sedated travel on a submarine would be cool as well.
