The TV series was actually very good, when you consider how difficult it was to make, but the books are better. I would say that the first six are very good but then the quality of the wriitng dissolves and they get lazy, Butcher admits that he writes most of them in snatches in the corner of the room while playing role games and trust me, it shows. I won't be buying any more until the man takes a bit more care of them. It's never a good idea to give a writer or performer unqulaified praise, laurels are very comfortable and they often end up resting on them. I would suggest reading William Hope Hodgeson's Carnacki books, which are stunning when you consider when they were written, and look up the bio of the guy on the net, it is a great story in itself. Harry, Bob and Mouse will always have a good reception here, but as I say, I think Jim Butcher needs to give his work more priority. Which can't be a bad thing.
