Bringing rifle toting units of the National Guard into the streets of Chicago is not the solution to city's surge in murders, experts said today.

"It's a very bad idea," said Bill Bratton, the former police commissioner of both Los Angeles and New York City. "The National Guard is that last thing you want in a situation of combating violence in national cities."

Bratton and others recoiled at the request made Sunday by Chicago Reps. John Fritchey and LaShawn Ford, both Democrats, that Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn deploy the Illinois National Guard to deal with the violence.

So far this year there have been 113 murders reported homicides, according to Chicago police statistics.

This should make Hunk and real blow a gasket, troops deployed in an american city, the beginning of the end.

Although, in all honesty, this type of idea could set a bad precedent.

JLF, you can't carry a gun legally in the state of Illinois at all!
Gee, "gun control laws" work so well don't they? They should "allow" citizens to start carrying guns again and watch the crime go down again.
Whatever they're doing now is certainly not working is it?

Isn't this the same story http://www.collarchat.com/m_3179476/tm.htm

Chicago could be the location of the next false flag.  What a better way to send the troops in.

IN is to handle mass casualties- as Homeland Security questioned them in an assessment... and told them to harden police stations too.

But a false flag for what?

Hunky and his conspiracy bullshit again. Perhaps the government is going to drop a nuke on chicago as an excuse to start WWIII

I had to laugh. I understand the idea of false flag attacks, but how, if the government decided to pull one off, do one through a high crime rate? Terrorist attack I could see, but a rise in violent crime? I don't see a "false flag" in the picture at all, just a miserable situation.

pahunkboy -> RE: Ill. State Reps Ask Gov. For National Guard to Cut Murder Rate (4/26/2010 4:07:24 PM)

No.  It would be more like a dirty bomb  in a suit case.  Blamed on Iran.

jlf1961 -> RE: Ill. State Reps Ask Gov. For National Guard to Cut Murder Rate (4/26/2010 4:09:23 PM)

Hunk, do you realize just how that sounds? Of course you feel that the government is behind everything. Perhaps we should do away with governments and just kill each other off. Solves all the world's problems.

pahunkboy -> RE: Ill. State Reps Ask Gov. For National Guard to Cut Murder Rate (4/26/2010 4:11:22 PM)

It sounds like how Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.   How we went into 2 undeclared wars- with no end in sight.

Under a REPUBLICAN President! You cant have it both ways Hunky, either the Republicans wanted us in a war and the democrats didnt, or the democrats (who are pulling troops out of Iraq) wanted the war and Bush didnt.

It has been proven that Bush Lied about WMD's and Saddam supporting Bin Laden. The truth was that supporters of Bin Laden were routinely executed.

Get your head out and start thinking instead of preaching this conspiracy bullshit. It is getting old.

pahunkboy -> RE: Ill. State Reps Ask Gov. For National Guard to Cut Murder Rate (4/26/2010 4:19:15 PM)

LOL.   No.   This is now Obamas wars.  He has  had ample time to end them and has not.

I don't see it, mate. If the government wants to stage a false flag, I don't think they'd pick a place already in turmoil. If anything, and this is a big if, the government could use it as a way of rounding up "criminals" (dissidents, critics, ect) and possibly snatching up people's firearms. But a dirty bomb?

Yeah, liberals like high crime rates, means lots of federal dollars comming in and plenty of federal "programs."

Las Vegas would be my other guess as to a location.  Hopefully there wont be anything horrific like this.

If I had to guess- we still have 6 mos to 3 years before the money system takes another step downward.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Illinois does allow unconcealed carry just like everywhere else. We even allow concealed carry but still require an actual reason.

The city of Chicago does ban possesion inside the city but despite a couple of state reps trying to get some press the city has a much lower crime rate than in years past.

I doubt liberals enjoy crime. Like I said, I could see a government "program" coming in and confiscating firearms, but an actual attack?

DomKen, I'm looking at my copy of "The traveler's guide to the firearm laws of the fifty states" by J. Scott Kappas, Esq. and under Illinois it says; Open Carry, "prohibited in all public areas."
"Concealed Carry, no provision for concealed carry licensing."
It says there are, "a wide assortment of laws that are piled layer upon layer in the land of Lincoln."
It rates Ill. "29" out of a freedom scale of 1- 100.
It says, "Chicago is a world unto itself as regards numerous gunlaws."

Wolfe, you're a liberal politician in Chicago, NYC or any other number of big cities.
You're getting tens of millions of federal aid dollars extra because of the high crime rates in your city for the past ten years. The crime rates start going down and Washington tells you "good work" now we're going to decrease the money we're giving you by $20 M.
All of a sudden those 6 new Fire Engines, 20 Police Cruisers, 8 brandnew ambulances, you wanted to order are dissapearing before your very eyes.
What do you do?
I didn't say liberals, "enjoy crime." I said they like "high crime rates."

domiguy -> RE: Ill. State Reps Ask Gov. For National Guard to Cut Murder Rate (4/26/2010 5:12:02 PM)

pops understands the complexity of Chicago's crime rate. He once saw a skyscraper and a negro.
