Since I mentioned this in your other thread, let me explain why I said dom's. I believe that we can learn from anyone and have had submissive's teach me a thing or two. Yet I have had the blessing of knowing some dominant's that have assisted me in various ways and it just feels different. There is no chance that anything would come between us, no doubts on anyone's part of topping or telling me as their dominant what to do, not that I would really go there, but just in case and nothing could be seen as improper to anyone who would go to that conclusion. Since a top or dominant is the one handling the cane/whip/ whatever, they may have some knowledge that is very beneficial to impart. You personally might also feel more comfortable with another dominant without the pressure of any dynamic or expectation with a submissive you might or could have some attraction to.

There are dominant's that have been inexperienced that learned just about everything from their submissive. So it can go any way it happens. lol I just thought you personally might benefit more from another dominant considering a number of things.

Good luck!

DevilWolf, quit analyzing and asking questions and fretting,  Just get out there already.  For all you know, other Doms are getting all the good subs while you type on your computer.

It absolutely does happen. I know several dominants who are always happy to share what they know with other dominants.

Yes.. ive seen that happening quite a bit. A Dom getting a Dom mentor isnt uncommon and is a good thing when it comes to learning how to use things like floggers and other equipment.

Devilwolf .. I recommend going to some play parties even if its only to watch. As it can be hard to get accepted into many of them if you are a single Dom make sure you express your wish to be learning about the BDSM equipment (rather than just gawking at bodies).

I've taught Doms and Dommes, lots of fun, naturally they had to experience it for themselves, or how were they ever going to do it to someone else?

I work from a concept of learning from those I call "My Men." Dominant men that are not in competition with me and seek to help me be the best man I can be. They hold me accountable for my words and my actions. They are not my friends, they don't bullshit me or sell me out. They hit me right between the eyes if I am getting off track. I do the same for them. With these men I can drop my war mask and reveal all that prevents me from being my best. It is critical to me and is the only thing that keeps my development from getting stale.

We all learn off of each other in some way or another regardless of the roles we identify with. What you just decribed is yoiu being taught by others in a way which doesn't fit in the standard concept of teaching, lessons do come in a multitude of disguises.

I can and do learn from just about every interaction with any person or experience. Specific to dominance, my men, are who I "go to" to fine tune. However, I am open to all forms of education in becoming the best man I can be.

the number of attendees at a munch really depends on the munch! The ones I go to - it could be half a dozen one month, and forty the next. Depends on payday, the weather, holidays, all that stuff.

Just go with a positive attitude, smile at people, try to chat to a couple of people and before long I'm sure you'll feel relaxed...and all this stressing will be just a dim and distant memory

There's one munch here, it's a multi group munch and about 5 groups all band together to come to one event, and it got so big they out grew the venue, while other groups only about 10 people came.

I would maybe try and start thinking of it as DOMS ADVISING DOMS. The reason i say this is because to me -- and i am not a Dom type but it makes sense to me that a Dom would have to find his own concepts by which he basis is philosophy and perspectives from. To say a Dom would teach a Dom would indicate that the Dom being taught would have the same focus and understanding and perspective of the Dom doing the teaching. When you have a Dom advising another Dom its a concept of take, absorb and determine if its going to fit into what you wish for you.

Viewing it as a Dom teaching you may hinder you from finding your individuality in this Dom concept.

I agree with what angel is saying. It is not a good idea to only get one perspective on things. Dominants don't tell each other what to do in most cases. Unless you have agreed to obey another you will have the choice of saying hell yes or hell no to anything you hear or are introduced to. Most things are not rocket science, but can get confusing. The best thing you can do is keep it as simple as possible and not get caught up in fantasy or hypothetical/theoretical bull.

Hi Lockit! Good to see you... I peek here and there. I have been very busy, but love to throw a word in once in awhile.

When I talk about mentoring or teaching a skill, I don't consider that one dominant would teach another a true way of things and override another dominant's personality or anything else. I see someone warning about certain things, showing someone how to handle a whip or fire play/whatever and pretty much just being someone who gives advice. It is up to the dominant learning to decide what to use and do and anyone that could so easily lose themselves in being taught certain things or skills; I would have to question whether they were really dominant in the first place.

I've found that in talking to other dominant's, that we feed off of one another, talk about experiences and share information and it works well. We have fun, some learn and we encourage one another. Not one of us would want a carbon copy of ourselves or want to diminish anyone else in any way. In fact I know we would discourage that and would most likely consider someone who wanted to mimic us someone we would tell to take a long walk off a short pier.

Ohh thanks for pointing that out. I know absolutely nothing about BDSM or the scening concept or kink stuff and techniques, so when i wrote my post it never occured to me that yea some Doms will need to be taught about that stuff. My view was simply more of the mental and philosophical aspect of themselves and their dominance and stuff like that -- what molds them so to speak.

Hey... I was talking. Period. You want to take offense or get snippy... go for it, but you will be talking to yourself.
