DomBlade64 -> Japanese Rope Style Bondage (3/23/2010 9:13:06 PM)

I am curious if anyone is REALLY into this. I find that only a few people actually know alot of the knots and positions and can hardly find anyone who practices this. I am wondering why.

Is it just not their kink or do you find it too complicated?

Too Dangerous?

Hate untangling that Frigging rope after your done?

Whats the deal?

subjackie01 -> RE: Japanese Rope Style Bondage (3/23/2010 9:21:47 PM)

I know quite a few riggers, especially in the sf bay area that are very into shibari. Ditto for the la area. If you are interested in it and want to learn it well try looking for for trianings by midori. Most bdsm educations groups also have rope bondage workshops that may include shibari.

BKSir -> RE: Japanese Rope Style Bondage (3/23/2010 9:23:55 PM)

I don't practice as much as I'd like, but I'm VERY into it.  I don't so much hate untangling it when I'm done, I hate having to wrap it back up.  Ugh...  Pain in the ass when you're dealing with 30-50m.

FireRaven -> RE: Japanese Rope Style Bondage (3/23/2010 10:20:02 PM)

I adore Shibari. I love the textures of the rope, the sensuality that the bottom or sub experiences when I am placing them in position and securing them in place, the precision of my knots. Enveloping a bottom or sub in my ropes is like holding them in my arms, only they're far more decorative. And yes...I was trained in SF, but am always practicing and learning. Happy rigging!

Nope, you must be the only one, I mean there aren't any books on this obscure subject, no porn site, and of course there are no conventions where lovers of rope go like Shibaricon, nope just the amazing you who is REALLY into it.

domiguy -> RE: Japanese Rope Style Bondage (3/23/2010 10:31:38 PM)

I don't get it...which shouldn't be a big surprise.

It seems to be catering to the needs of the sub. I have some restraints for wrists and ankles and know enough fishing knots to keep her in place.

If she wants to look all pretty all tied up, put on some fucking make-up, you dirty whore.

Thanks for interpreting your own twisted opinion of me into your reading of my post.

Where did I say I was into it? Where? Where did I say I even knew anything about it?

Perhaps I am into it. Perhaps I do practice it or dont.

Porn sites? Thats real people. Your perception of reality is distorted. Im simply asking why there arent alot of VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE Japanese rope practitioners in the real bdsm community. (Which may or may not include CollarMe)

I was noticing the broad gap between those who had a fondness for latex, or leather, then theres what seems to be in the background Japanese Rope Bondage.

So I was asking who was into it.

Not professing my awesome LEET skillz at it.

Or even that I like it.[;)]

So much animosity for your fellow BDSM man.
Why is that?

I LOVE shibari. Sadly, I don't get to play with it as much as I'd like to, but I absolutely LOVE rope.

I don't own any shackles or manacles or other restraining devices. I own rope.

With it, I can either be sensual, or methodical, or sadistic, I can torment or please, all at my whim. If I am feeling sadistic, I can wrap the rope faster, with less care, and cause some lovely rope burns.

When I'm finished, unwrapping the parcel is just as delicious. I get to see up close and personal all the lovely imprints the rope has left behind. If I don't feel like wrapping the rope up, I can have my 'parcel' wrap it up for me when finished.

What I enjoy most is the amount of time and intimacy involved. It requires great patience from the bottom - particularly if he isn't into it as much as I am.

Yummy. Yup. I love rope!

Wow, Great post!
I didnt think there would be anyone that was passionate about it. Sure, I expected some to be so-so, but not to have an affinity for it.

I hear how there are so many subtle changes that make big differences in the play like the addition of a large ring to alleviate rope tension and to gain more movement.

I think its complicated but thats what I find to be beautiful about it.

Cheers!

I was always into bondage. The female form bound is such a lovely sight. I tied up my first woman at the age of 17. She was 25. But I was into bondage for the sake of having a helpless female before me. It wasn't until many years later that I began to appreciate shibari. The first time I tried some intricate bondage with my little girl and saw the effect that the rope had on her, I knew I was missing out on something for all those years. I did a little studying and got a little better at the basics of shibari. I'm no expert...not by any means, but I can really appreciate it now. The connection between the top and bottom. The space she goes into when she feels the rope on her. The marks it leaves on her skin after it's removed. Beautiful. I wish there were more time to study and maybe take some classes.

You are new to these boards, and you are getting a lot of negative responses from others, including myself on a few earlier threads. There is a reason for the negativity, and if you can see that reason, you may find more genuine replies to your posts.

I think your newness to the forum here, and past experiences you've had elsewhere, causes you to somehow doubt the authenticity of the members here on the CM Forums (aka CollarChat). If you could remove that implied doubt from your posts, and ask your questions in a less 'flaming' manner, you would likely achieve much more enthusiastic, or at least genuine replies.

Cheers to you as well.

I see what you are saying. It makes alot of sense.  I dont think I would like to be doubted and I shouldnt doubt others as well. Most of my posts are just random questions and I have a hard time expressing what I want to say in written form so I see how it may come across as abrasive.

I will try to improve my implied meaning on further posts.

Thanks for understanding.

LadyPact -> RE: Japanese Rope Style Bondage (3/24/2010 2:44:52 AM)

I'm kind of surprised by your post.  It makes Me wonder where you live because darn near every place that I've been involved in the 'real BDSM community' there are a good number of rope enthusiasts.  Those who enjoy shibari amongst them.  Shabaricon is the big event of the year for them and they wouldn't miss it for the world.  In many cities where the BDSM commuity is large enough to support sigs, rope and rope enthusiasts are often at the top of the list.  (Only outdone in number by TNG sigs that are all over the country now.)

No, I don't happen to be one of them.  I can appreciate the beauty of rope work, the dedication that it takes to learn the skill, and so on, but it's just not a passion for Me.  My idea of bondage is to secure the vict..... er, I mean, volunteer for whatever it is that I'm about to do to them.  It isn't the main event.

sweetboundesire -> RE: Japanese Rope Style Bondage (3/24/2010 6:51:33 AM)

I dated a girl who's Dom was into Shibari. She showed me pics of herself in very pretty knotwork, was amazing. When i first saw it, at first glance it looked like a bra w/o the cups to hold her breasts. It was amazing work, i do think it must take a desire to learn it and know it well, there is a cleverness to it, how pulling a rope one way may tighten them elsewhere. Never had it done but it does sound cool. She sent me joke on the subject, i will share.

To quote a story a friend of mine told me about three famous rope tops who were asked why they liked rope bondage so much:

When asked, the first paused and stroked his chin contemplatively and said, “It would have to be the artistry of it all, the lines and how they form across the body.. The symmetry of the rope and how it forms the bottom into a compelling shape…”

The next one shook his head and disagreed, “That is all well and good, but for me it is the engineering of it. The “how” of doing bondage, what knots are going to be the strongest and most useful, how am I going to execute the bondage in the most efficient and streamlined fashion… that is what I really like”

Turning to the third and final rigger, he sorta shrugged and in a matter of fact voice said, “I do it cuz trying up pretty girls makes my dick hard. Always has.”

SimplyMichael -> RE: Japanese Rope Style Bondage (3/24/2010 6:55:30 AM)

Rope is actually the "kink dejure" at moment, over on fet every dipshit with a wad of rope and a paddle has pics of some woman tied up in overly complicated ropework and pictures of bruised asses.

Probably why I don't do much ropework anymore, used to love the stuff.

I think its just people having a go and I don't think there's anything dipshitty about that.
I prefer to watch the Masters at work but for me rope workshops are like knitting classes. I'm no good at either and get bored too easily!

mnottertail -> RE: Japanese Rope Style Bondage (3/24/2010 7:20:17 AM)

OP.

slaves are born, not made, for straightening up and cleaning the rope.

MasterXMagnum -> RE: Japanese Rope Style Bondage (3/24/2010 8:05:20 AM)

Oh yeah... this stuff is beautiful. I lived in the Bay area a while and have seen some demonstrations, learned a bit, done some of it, it can be really breathtaking to see a beauty bound so thoroughly. It is SO very time consuming, though. And I don't really mean learning, though certainly that is a real time commitment, but the actual process of such intricate bondage takes such time that it can be kind of a mood killer. But it makes for some really beautiful pictures.
