A potential Dom I was talking with commented 'you post a lot on the message boards'. It made me sit back and consider how I come across to other people through my posting.
There are posters on this board that I don't particularly enjoy, because their attitude doesn't sit well with me. There are people who have an opinion that they will not change (fair enough), but look down on everyone else because they have a different opinion. There are some who appear to see an argument or disagreement and feel the need to fuel the fire just for the hell of it. There are others who just need to be 'heard', even if they have nothing of value to contribute at all - what I think of as the 'quantity over quality' folk. Thankfully there is also a majority of posters who regularly post coherent, well-argued points, even if I don't always agree with their position.
My point is - how do I want to appear to people who matter to me? By writing anything at all on these boards I'm communicating a hell of a lot about myself, even if I'm not sharing communication effectively on a topic.
