Oh come on.   a few inches of snow and everyone freaks out.

this is nothing.

recall the blizzard of the century?

then the following year- every Wednesday 2-3 feet of snow.

it will all melt in due time.   :-)

I've been in the nursing home in MD caring for my elderly lady since Friday at noon.  At 2am this morning, the power went out.  They have a backup generator, but it doesn't power anything in the residents' rooms, such as light & heat.  The power was just restored a little bit ago.  Granny & I made it through relatively unscathed by sitting in the middle of the building away from all the windows & doors & bundling up.  The snow is gorgeous!!!!!

I'm also seriously snowed in.  Where I am in Northern VA, we have 3 feet of snow, maybe a touch more.

I hate snow.  I'm hoping that people stay off the roads unless it's critical.  I've heard sirens off and on all day and night.

(Oh, and hunky, I hardly call 3 feet or, where my kids are this weekend, 40" of snow, a "few" inches that will just melt away.  People die in bad weather of any sort when they lose power, etc.)

We were plowed and shovled out by now; but there are around 2000 people without power in SW Ohio. personally, it doesn't bother me- I'm from the Great Plains, where snow is a way of life. At least we didn't get sleet with it this time.

I think they're more equipped to cope with it in Wisconsin

In Seattle, I haven't had to use my garden hose for 11 weeks to wash my car...

(None of it's sticking).

I'm actually a little bit jealous.

Not me. After twenty years in PA I saw enough snow for several lifetimes. Snow is very pretty but so are lions at a safe distance. I don't want either out in my front yard.

How is everyone doing?  I did not take one step out of my house yesterday.  Definitely getting out for a while today.  Thinking about making some chili........

We had 11" last week. The problem wasnt the snow, it was the 1 1/2" of solid ice underneath the snow. The road outside our house was closed for most of a day one day and Fox and I both had to call into work for the majority of the weekend. I got in a wreck on the hill outside right before they closed it. Out here, the snow isnt much of a challenge, they can handle that. The ice, from the early sleet that freezes under the snow is our headache.

I think, though, that other than the occasional flurry we are done with that mess.

Oh no, DV, how bad was the wreck?  You are not injured, and okay, yes?

Man, what a job....I just dug my car out, about 3 feet of PLOWED snow piled up behind it. Not to mention the foot that was piled up on top of it......which kept melting into mini-avalanches and tumbling down onto the space I just shovelled! Arrrrggghhhhhh! lol I feel a ridiculous sense of exhausted accomplishment, however, though I'm dreading how sore and stiff I'm going to be tomorrow. I'm going to make an Advil meatloaf for dinner.
