Many years ago, I had a beautiful photo of my mothers mother reproduced - photographed (before the age of photocopiers) and framed. I did four of them - one for my mum, her sister, my sister and me.

I gave it to mum and she promptly burst into tears. She insisted we give her sisters one to her that day - I ended up with a car load of crying females!

I still have that photo as does my mum, and I still enjoy the day I made my mother and my aunt cry.

It was a little pricey, but the reaction was priceless!!!!!

This was my most recent gift, a platinum collar, because I have a gold one, which you can see on my profile pics, but he wanted me to have one to wear with my white jewelry, god I love that man.

All time favorite gift was a stack of paper and pens, when I had nothing to write with and before the day of the household computer.

Today my daughter brought me a lil something wrapped in yellow tissue... it was a lil tiny plastic baby... announcing to me that they were having a baby after treatments for a disease that was preventing her from getting pregnant. That lil baby doll is on my comp tower right now and will be a keepsake.

Rocks... I love rocks and they go with me when other things might not be able to go

I love giving gifts too... major fun!

One of the things I've been doing with money being tight is doing custom desktops and forum signature blocks for my friends and family. I do a variety of artwork anyway, and I enjoy doing 3-D renders.

In my first year of uni, I was pretty skint, so I made food gifts for everyone. One of my flatmates was chinese, and her Dad had given her a tupperware full of his homemade chilli oil to bring over to England on the plane for when she got homesick. She phoned her dad for me and got the recipe (I still have it somewhere-the English is pretty shaky, and it makes a hilarious read; I think she must have been translating as she talked-normally her English is good) . When it was my Dad's birthday, I made a big jar of it for him.

He absoluteley hates receiving gifts and I'm not that crazy about it either. So that posed a problem when his birthday rolled around. And then I came up with the perfect gift for him. He came in from work and found a massage table set up in the bedroom. He has since been the recipient of many really enjoyable massages. Plus it helps fuel the whole medical gyno table fantasy.
For me, he just gave me a tv for the bedroom so we can cuddle and watch together. I hated that he spent that kind of money, but he insisted. The best gift he has given me by far is when he took me to the apartment building in NYC that my dad lived in as a little boy. Got us into the building which still had the original stoop, interior brick and interior marble steps all the way up to the fifth floor. Then he got me onto the roof and I got to see the views my dad saw as a little six year old boy. We took wonderful pictures of that all. On Christmas Eve afternoon he took me into the Bronx for a wonderful Italian meal and then took me to the house I was conceived in and lived in for the first five years of my life out in Queens. More photo ops. Those gifts are priceless to me...

Oh yeah....he gave me a collar too.

He sent me a dozen roses for my birthday the first year. This is special because he dislikes cut flowers, much prefers giving plants. But a January birthday isn't a time you can find a rose bush in bloom.

I recently had to quit drinking coffee and one of the best gifts I received, from one of my best friends, was a tea mug with an assortment of teas.  I prefer something small and sentimental over an expensive, huge gesture.  Show me that you are paying attention to who I am.

if your obedient, you have to be obedient to someone, so the mere demand for obedience is paying attention

I love giving gifts, especially those I make. I enjoy baking from scratch, making candles and bath salts, so giving them to someone as a gift is just icing on top of making things.

I do enjoy getting gifts, especially those that are made, have a lot of friends who make jewelry, and being gifted cookies is a major plus. The one most memorable gift was when my first witch teacher died, and her daughter gifted me her pentagram ring.

That's not necessarily true at all. What KatyLied actually said was "Show me that you are paying attention to who I am", which means her likes, interests, hobbies, obsessions, etc... demanding obedience from someone doesn't take into account any of those things. It's merely a one-sided command.

It really depends on the context behind that gift.  Is it meaningful and serves a purpose?  Or is it the act of giving driven by guilt?  For example, I wouldn't want a diamond ring (or any other kind of jewelry) because he did something to betray my trust and he's only giving that to me because he feels guilty.

To me, a gift doesn't have to be expensive.  It really is the thoughts that counts.  Something personal to me, it identifies me in some sort of way.  Vice versa, I love giving personal gifts.  Something that person can relate to.

Speaking of gifts, my bday is coming up and I am getting a surprise present from my special One!
