I am glad you want to honor and celebrate happiness...
I had 4 "husbands" over 20 years..2 at a time (POLY) making for interesting celebrations as each was added..indeed.

The concept of SHOWER was/is showering the bride with gifts ..advice..etc as she started off on her journey.
Even thought this is a 3rd marriage it is a NEW journey...
JOKES about a 3rd marriage>>>etc I feel are mean and tacky...ridiculous and disrespectful..
2 ppl are making a commitment in an at times.. chaotic world..KUDOS..

Some ideas:
*A get together for both with a wishing well at teh centre of the theme:
of GOOD WISHES>>or BEST WISHES..the well could be a contoiner for envelopes of money??for a trip..gift cards to shops or stores..

* GIRLZ DAY a girl day or spa day honoring femininity...pedi-cure...mani-cure etc...DRESS the bride to be and escort about town to her appts..

* ROMANCE KIT...have a little chocolate party and have a large trunk/basket in the centre and ppl can add to the romance kit..
candles...crystal goblets..wine..silk pillowcases..heart pillow..tickets to theatre..popcorn& movies....books such as THe 5 lLanguages of LOVE

Perhaps that is the modern view of a shower. But i hold with the old fashioned concept where the bride was going from the home of her parents to a new home with her husband. She owned little more than her personal items, and gifts were given to establish the house.

There is a good chance some of the attendees have been to two previous showers for the bride. If i were one of them and a third traditional shower was planned, i would no doubt be thinking "Enough already!!"

It is awesome to want to get together to celebrate and wish her luck on her journey, but gifts from the heart are more appropriate than gifts from the wallet.
