Hunky, you may be sorry for this thread. See now you should come down here and pick up a copy of the collection. Understand though that it is so large that it is impractical even to burn to DVDrs, so just buy a harddrive of at least 80GB capacity and I'll give you my address. The loading process might take about an hour, and that includes a nice, bu artisty, directory structure. If you want the videos as well it might take a bit longer.
I have been downloading for years, and people have speculated that the value of my collection might be well into five figures, but there is no effective way to sell it. And alot of this is EXACTLY the type os shit you are talking about. Alot of it is oldies, going back to songs I heard as a kid on the AM radio in the Corvair. We had a 64, a Monza with a stickshift.
Actually, you probably don't even have to buy a harddrive, my roving 40GB just came back today and that is a good way to distribute this. I can't sell it, that would be illegal of course. It might not even be quite so right to give away, or even have for that matter. Almost all content has been screen for copyright flags and if it won't play in Mediaplayer it is deleted.
I could mail this off after updating it with the latest downloads and the enhanced directory structure. The music really only amounts to maybe 20GB, but there are alot of videos and other stuff. This system is frequently used at my house parties as a juke box. I just show them how to make their playlist and let it rip. (so to speak) It's really cool because in some cases they play stuff I never knew I had or have forgotten about.
The structure of this thing is compatible with nearly any media player. While VLC and Irfanview don't seem to able to make playlists, Winamp can. I also know that Mediaplayer 7 will run in XP, and while it doesn't do playlists it allows for multiple windows, and it does not start automatically. That means you can stack up the windows and pick and choose from many songs that are open, like buttons on a car radio. I can include that player, as well as VLC and Irfan. I don't have Winamp right now, but am considering it.
