Status: offline 		Everyone has heard a frog will let himself boil to death in a pot of water, instead of jumping out when it gets too hot. I have heard many people comment to that story, "Stupid frog, why didn't it jump out?"

Perhaps the frog thought the water would cool back off, Perhaps the frog thought it was part of the, "it will be worth it down the road" mind set. Perhaps the frog thought if it was a good enough frog, it would be able to handle the heat.

Yeah, whatever eh, what a stupid frog. This is my 1st frog experience, and its pissing me off that my ass is still burning alittle. Have any of you been a "frog"....do you think you jumped too late?

never heard that story about frogs

and why are you pissed off - most of us like that after glow

Status: offline 		Unfortunately, yes.  I have.  Well actually, no I haven't.

I stayed in an abusive marriage ALMOST beyond the boiling point, and it nearly cost me my life and the life of my children.  I suppse the difference between myself and 'the frog,' is that my self-preservation instinct kicked in, and I did manage to get out of the situation before I (or my children) met the same end as poor frog.

The only time it is 'too late' is when you can no longer remove yourself from the situation at all...so apply some healing to your burning bum, and your damaged psyche' and give yourself some credit.  If you made a mistake, at least you survived to acknowledg it, and learn from it.  THAT, is what makes you different from the frog in your story.

Status: offline 		Hmmm....the story is an analogy. They say you can place a frog in a pot of water, and turn on the heat. As the water slowly heats up the frog stays, but the frog will not jump out when it gets too hot. The frog stays in the water to its detriment.

Meaning sometimes we stay longer than we should, you look around, and wonder when it got to damn hot in here.

Assuming there may be a mistake made, which would be the worse outcome, leave too early or stay too long?

Yes a couple times throughout my life. Being angry is normal. I don't get as angry with the other, as i do myself. Takes a long time for me to stop beating myself up. The other one(s) was just being themselves, and i hold myself accountable for have unhealthy expectations of someone changing, or keeping their word, when in the past it never was done. 

I survived though, and have stop beating myself up in being lead by my want -to -be or need -to believe, when in reality I knew better.

Yes, what is the worse outcome? To go too soon or too late? I guess it depends on the person. The OP asks if any of us have jumped too late. I usually stay too long rather than leave too early. I want to be sure I'm correct about the situation, after all I know I make mistakes. I have to be sure I can live with me leaving it. It takes time to be sure therefore I usually jump too late- but only a little too late. Nothing that will put me in an awful situation...just late enough that I wonder later on why I didn't leave sooner....and I know the answer! Because I had to be sure.

Or how about not too damn hot, but just too damn tepid? Been there, done that.  I hope at least your experience will leave you a stronger person.

i get the analogy but im still missing the point of how that correllates to youre being pissed off that youre ass still burns a little, prolly being thick.

and im guessing with the frog that the water gets all warm and he slowly commatoses as the water gets hotter. bit like crabs and lobsters do (but you have to bring them to the boil slowly) not so much silly as cosy snug and comfy but with a growing suspician that all isnt as it seems

Yeah, we got that. Maybe that is why you got burnt, thinking in never-never land too much. I mean, what with the "99" age you post, a meaningless picture, it gets tiring. None of it makes me think: "Now here is an interesting person!"
