Everyone has heard a frog will let himself boil to death in a pot of water, instead of jumping out when it gets too hot. I have heard many people comment to that story, "Stupid frog, why didn't it jump out?"

Perhaps the frog thought the water would cool back off, Perhaps the frog thought it was part of the, "it will be worth it down the road" mind set. Perhaps the frog thought if it was a good enough frog, it would be able to handle the heat.

It's actually the same moral as the "camel's nose in the tent" fable. The water heats up gradually, so the frog doesn't realize how hot it is until it's too late, whereas if you dropped the frog into scalding water, it would leap right back out (all utterly folklore, btw).

well, if you're a wide mouth frog, pop by the house.

Have any of you been a "frog"....do you think you jumped too late?

I suspect pretty much everyone has been the "frog" in this scenario at one point in their lives... that's not really a big issue, as it's part of the whole "live and learn" thing.  It becomes a problem when one remains the "frog" (a "serial frog", so to speak) in relationship after relationship, as this implies they're not learning from past mistakes.

Aye, I'm absolutely sure we've all been the frog at one point about something. The thing is... I intend to jump right back in, as soon as I debrief myself, and perhaps a friend or two for perspective. Life goes on....

It has been said a time or two that i had a "big mouth", though i'm not sure if that means "wide"?
