i often see profiles where the profilee will say to send email to another email address other than cm

my question has anyone ever responded this way and were there any unpleasant consequences

i rarely do, - usually only with people who become friends.

i think people feel its more convenient to email from their personal email account than traipse off to CM every time they want to exchange emails with a particular person.

if people have that in their CM profile id just assume that they dont come here every day and so its more conveninet to have correspondence sent to their msn, yahoo or whatever.

and since when did you give a shit about unpleasant consequences.

i was referring to maybe getting your email on a scam list

There are a few exceptions I'm sure, but the majority of those are either looking for cybersex or it is scamming, phishing, harvesting for spam and I'd rather not take the chance they aren't one of the above thank you.

No. Those who send contact information in the first email put me off, though I don't really know why.

I don't get that logic though, when someone emails me here, a notification goes to my email. How is it so much less convenient to get mail through here? I'm not here every day but I'm certainly willing to make the extra click or two it takes to go from my email to collarme mail.

i didnt know there was that option. i dont have cmail notification - im guessing not everyone does therefore.

Under "mail controls" you can choose whether or not you'd like to be notified by email of a incoming cmail.

I'm always wary of people who post their emails in their profiles or in a introductory email for the already mentioned reasons...cybersex/scamming/phishing/spam harvesting.  Just less to worry about.

I'm very protective of my outside e-mail address and won't write to Anyone using it until I get to know Them.

Some people may want to check their email at work but not be able to go to collarme at work so this way they can still read email from people from collarme.

I don't have any aversions of people using outside email addresses. It could just mean they don't frequent this site enough to bother checking it and it's easier for them to read emails on their other email accounts.

What really? Shouldn't you be doing something more productive at work? LOL.

Anyway, like I said, a click or two extra isn't that big a deal.

I'm protective of my outside email too. I don't even use my real email address to communicate with people until after I meet them... that's what hotmail is for :).

I was glad to read dfferent POV's here.  I admit tha I'm largely intolerant of those who send their contact information on first contact.  It was nice reading some kinder, positive thoughts in contrast to my own more jaded ones.

I agree. Thats what profiles on a site with a different mailbox is for. Its for my protection.
I have had people with no filled out profile sending me yahoo contact info. Obviously are not up to getting to know me or being known if they cant bother with corresspondence here. I am not comfortable with chat with strangers. Its usually for no purpose other than sexual innuendo or porn speak or scamming purposes. I mean when one writes me and tell me they knew I was there soulmate by looking into my eyes, I tell them,"I have no money, you will never get any from me and I dont care if you wind up with a sick mother or need some money to tide you over til your investments come through!

Much ado about nothing... set-up a FREE email account like Yahoo, GMail, MSN, etc. for this type of thing to keep your regular email private.

All my other email addresses are there solely for business, or friends and family. Cmail email is for those who are here. There are a few here that have my other email address solely because they are close friends to me. Yet we still usually use cmail.

For a while, I couldn't get my photo to post on my profile, so I did use an outside e-mail address to share pics. I didn't give it out until we'd traded a couple of CM e-mails, though.
