To all:
Is a switch really a bad thing, as long as they are switching from a vannila person who may or may not take care of things in his or her's person's life, to being a demanding person who switched just to get his way. I think a real switch has been given a bad rap by peopel who have met the later not the former

I think if you switched terminology about switches, it might switch My answer if the switch in My head understood your question.

I understand how important it is that you are seen as a switch, and not a switch.

I get it.

Aqua, I may be mistaken but you look great....have you lost weight, dumped that vuclan or valkarian dude?....something has changed.

AquaticSub -> RE: switches get a bad wrap (12/23/2009 12:15:35 PM)

Lost 50 pounds but married Valyraen so I gained another hundred and sixty or so. [:D]

SirRussellP -> RE: switches get a bad wrap (12/23/2009 12:16:51 PM)

I have a slave that claims she is a switch, and I agree with her that she has a strong dominant side to her.  That said it doesn't mean that I understand the mental make up of a switch.

I know we all have some bipolar elements in us to allow us to survive but I believe that most of us are pretty much one or the other in real life.  That someone can figure out how to hold or use a crop doesn't make them fit to be in charge of life decisions.  It doesn't make them able to serve and get the full enjoyment out of it.

Just my opinion that and $5 will get you a cup of coffee in Starbucks

Switch to vanilla? I do not think you properly decribed a swtich, real or otherwise.

SlvrFox -> RE: switches get a bad wrap (12/23/2009 3:01:48 PM)

Seems to me you don't un derstand what the term switch means in this lifestyle.

See, I never buy bad wrap, I always fork out the extra money for some good quality stuff like Glad Press & Seal.  It's worth every penny! [8|]

Ernesto,

I read your profile and I think that what you are defining as switch is different than what most people here consider to be a switch.

In BDSM terms, a switch is someone who switches between being 1) a top or a bottom, 2) a dominant or a submissive and/or 3) a sadist or a masochist.

What it seems you are alluding to is someone who switches between a Vanilla lifestyle and a BDSM lifestyle. Though I can see how this could seem like a switch in your mind -- you switch it on, you switch it off -- if you use the term switch here, you will be misunderstood (just see the posts to date).

Many people are chose to just have fun with BDSM now and then without submerging themselves in a full on lifestyle. To further complicate things, people have very different definitions of what living 24/7 BDSM lifestyle means. What might be 24/7 for me might not be what 24/7 for another person is.

Are "part-timers" or occaisional BDSMers seen as something negative, yeah, sometimes and by a few. But there is no reason for this other than ignorance and insecurity, really. I mean, this is your life and your choice. There will always be some people judging you, but you have to be honest. As long as you are honest about the degree of involvement that you want BDSM in your life, you should be fine. The most important is that you are straightforward with people you might be involved with so that you minimize confusion, struggle and eventually dissapointment.

Hope that helps!

That applies to plumbers who get into carpentry, an' all. Who is giving you a bad rap? And what (from your profile) is a semi Domme? Is that like semi-skimmed milk?

Why not give the guy a break? He's obviously trying to get his bearings.

Just to make things more complicated, when someone with multiple personalities changes from one to another, that's called "switching" as well.  Drove me crazy to see the word used like that... confusing!

You have been doing too much online studying. You see, a confused switch or in your words a 'bipolar' is really just an online myth.
Why would I sit down and have a Burger King when I can have the full banquet?

The difference between people like you and me is that I am incredibly open minded and clearly your not
