As many as 10,000 albinos are in hiding in east Africa over fears that they will be dismembered and their body parts sold to witchdoctors

WTH?  All I can do is shake my head.  I don't even know what to say.

Those poor people! No, I mean the ones doing it. What kind of childhood can they have had? We need to get some money over there to build schools and teach them skills, so they can earn a decent living instead of being forced to resort to such an awful livelihood.

Unh... that's code for my real opinion.

"Those poor people! "

If people would not stifle their scientific research maybe they would not be so primitive. White Man's ugly head again. Will we ever stop interfering ?

Honestly I would  like to know your real opinion. My initial reaction to the article was horror but when I got to the last part about the red cross needing funds to buld shelters and protect people I had mixed feelings. I think the albinos should have a safe haven, if they are seriously in danger of dismenberment, but building shelters to hide them isn't the answer. I am completely ignorant of the culture and economic conditions that breed this kind of  killing, so I have no idea how to stop it. It would be nice if they could address the root of it by eliminating whatever force makes dismembering people profitable. Throwing money at the problem and simply giving the people at risk a place to hide seems off to me.

Not to mention disgust. I didn't read the article. The OP was enough for me. Let's just say I found myself reflecting on the savings you can realize by buying ammunition in quantity. But it's only wishful thinking.

I say arm the Abinos. Make it unlucky to attack them.

I just heard an update.  So far they're all safe.  They're hiding in a mayonaise factory.

I can't attest to the validity of the claims, nor even the weight they should be given. But if this is true, it is NOT a joking matter. What's more is the question of intevention. Should we or not ?

Perhaps they are worth more when dismembered while alive, but the doc decides the prices. This is from the same type of asshole who said that having sex with a virgin would cure AIDS.

But this is halfway across the world, it is still none of our business, so the response will be ten thousand sorties and some depletd urainium to make them remember for generations to come. Our way is the right way and we got the bombs to prove it.

That is real power. Should we intervene or not ?

Good News.  The United Nations is having success smuggling them out.  They're using them instead of styrofoam to to pack and ship the mayo.  The kids are being smuggled out in snow globes.
