Or maybe, more realistically, only in Chicago. The Foie Gras and Sauternes Duck Hot Dog with Truffle Aioli, Foie Gras Mousse and Sel Gris from Hot Doug's

When I showed this to my french roomate he just looked at me and said "You understand the word blaspheme?"

I fetch lunch from this joint about once a week. When I go, I get a dog on the house. Haven't tried this little butte yet. Today I went for the
Spicy Jerk Pork Sausage with Spicy White Peach Mayonnaise, Creme de Brie Cheese and Roasted Plantains. Ha ha got to love an elitist hot dog. Only in America!

Oh goodness. Our Hot Dogs really are poor when compared to those in the US.

I used to visit Montreal often for business and would always be asked where I would like to go for lunch. I always upset them by wanting to go to a great Hot Dog place called LeFleurs. Mad but so different to anything we have here.

Reminds me of my brother's Toyota, an MR2 (French joke)

Hot dogs in Europe - what a great little scam they are. The vicious and oppressive EU wont let you call a sausage a sausage unless it has a certain amount of meat in it. So, "hot dogs" and "bangers" are how the manufacturers get around this inconvenience, as such names are not regulated. As a result, whilst you can get anything from minimum "meat" (usually "reclaimed") poor quality sausages right up to large amount of meat high quality sausages, your hot dog or banger could be just about anything, and usually is.

Dont eat hot dogs, bangers or poor quality sausages in the UK; if you knew what goes in you'd rather keep it out.

YES!!! Being from Montreal I understand completely. Lafleurs and others of that type also have the best frenchfries found anywhere.....aside from Cote St Luc BBQ of course.

Haven't tried this little butte yet.

A butte (pronounced /ˈbjuːt/) is a conspicuous isolated hill with steep, often vertical sides and a small, relatively flat top.

How does that pertain to hot dog?

I interpreted it as beaut.... as in short for beauty.

As for hotdogs. Mustard, relish and sauerkraut. From a NYC vendor.

Oh I know beaut. But beaut and butte are two *very* different words.

Well maybe if you eat enough of those hotdogs then your butt will become a butte.

Heh. Funny you mention that. The first time I read it, I had to do a double take because of the butt/butte similarity.

Here's how to eat foie gras. Sliced, on little pieces of toast, with a glass of chilled Sauternes.

I like mine with Champagne!

That works too :-) . Champagne is a wine that goes with nearly everything.

Now I want some foie gras *DROOL*. Screw the geese and fuck the ducks, get their livers out already.

One of the great things about America is its’ food. Whatever it is, where ever it comes from, you will likely find it here. And it doesn’t remain static. Different culinary traditions get mixed and fused together to create whole new gastronomic delights (Tex-Mex is just one example).

However…

Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should. The foie gras dog falls into that category. I’m with kittinsol on this one. Fuck the geese and spread some of that great stuff on some toast and pour a glass of wine.

After that we can have some escargot.
