Hey, I had 6 pet tarantulas at one point and they're cool pets. Some types live up to 15 years (scary for some of you), but can't be handled too much because it actually terrorizes THEM and causes stress. Most aren't too poisonous, however, they are all a little venomous. It feels weird to let one crawl on you (omg, I know... you sick bastage! letting a tarantula crawl on you).
Unfortunately, I had to go on a business trip, and the person watching my house didn't like them too well. They're actually really lazy (perfect pet for me), and if you put their food too far away in the aquarium, they'll just starve. Well, either lazy or dumb. I left the spray food and some crickets... they found a way to die.
On the good side, when my dog died... I cried and cried millions of goth tears. Ruined my eyeliner, I was pissed :P It gets so emotional with dogs and such, but with spiders, not too bad. Dog? $100 bucks to dispose of the corpse. Tarantula? $0 to flush down the toilet.
