I admit that I have not posted on this thread before.

I admit my 90 y.o. father died this past Thursday and we held his memorial service this afternoon

I admit I didn't know how many friends he had made in his long lifetime

I admit it has been a long and stressful week and I plan on doing stuff for just me tomorrow

I admit I welcome you to this quirky, cool, caring thread.

I admit I'm so very sorry for your loss.

I admit I wish you a restful, restorative day tomorrow.

May God grant him eternal rest.
May God's Perpetual Light shine upon him
and may his soul - and the souls of all the faithfully departed - rest in peace.

My deepest condolences for your loss.

Michael

(For the purposes of this post: FUCK the "I admit ...")

I admit, you're right dcnovice and right up to and including world war 2, if a ship sank or was sunk by enemy action, the crews wages stopped from the time the order to abandon ship was given. If the chief steward was a real company bull and managed to get the account books into the lifeboats with him though, any expenses the crew had incurred with stuff they had bought from him, still had to be paid for at a later date, when they got to their home port. Quite often those account books would disappear mysteriously from the lifeboat during the night. Quiet often the chief steward would too. And once the crew members got to a friendly port of some sort, they had to find their own way home. One way was to sign onto the ship of some overly generous captain as a D.B.S. ( Distressed British Seaman) for the magnificent sum of a shilling (ten cents) a month, for which they were expected to work alongside the crew already signed on.. A real luxury cruise huh ? White Star was one of the worst, followed by Cunard.

I admit that the next mother fucking piece of shit that busts my balls to my face about owning guns will get my foot so far up their ass they will have to take my boot off to blow their nose.
I admit that they have the right to their opinion, except when they vocalize their opinion in such a way as to demean me in front of my grandson and great nephew.
I admit that I did not want to draw my 1911 and shoot them in the kneecaps.

I freely and openly admit that I did think seriously about ripping their arms off their body and beat them to death with them.

I also happily admit that the general manager of the walmart where I was purchasing gun cleaning supplies escorted the shit heads out of the store after taking their picture and informing them they were banned from walmarts in the city.

On an educational note:
I have to admit their ability to swear in 3 languages was quite amazing.

Now the question I have is simple, what the fuck were they doing hanging around the aisle of gun supplies in the first place?

I admit, I would surely have liked to be a fly on the wall for THAT discussion

Funny thing, if my grandson and great nephew would not have been with me, I would have probably been using the same words this individual did, however, I make it an effort not to cuss in front of children, mine or anyone else's. I find that is rude, disrespectful, and probably a lot more.

I admit, however, to actually have used four letter words quite loudly in front of my great nephew and grand son, a split second after hitting my thumb with a hammer.

They were not nearly as awed by my swearing as they were with the shades of purple and black that my thumb began to develop within minutes of the impact.

I admit that managed to fracture the bone above the knuckle of my thumb in two places just from hitting it with a hammer, and the ER doc said I will probably lose the nail.

Maybe I should purchase a nail GUN.

Dvr22999874 -> RE: I Admit It I........ (9/26/2016 9:45:31 PM)

Is a nail gun used to fix that nail back on your thumb then Jeff ? Surely that would be even MORE painful ?

I thought you used super glue to apply nails to fingers? I mean that is what is in those fake nail kits my sister buys.

No, a nail gun to replace the use of a hammer. I am one of those people who can use any tool in the tool box without incident EXCEPT a hammer.

Among the most recent incidents.

The head coming off a brand new hammer on the up swing, which hit my sister (who swears I did it on purpose because she has taken to hiding my cigarettes to cut me from half a pack a day.)

The handle breaking on the hammer the above hammer was purchased to replace.

And god knows how many times I have hit my thumb. At this point, I think my thumb is going to sue for divorce.

And I am not talking about one of those cheap nail guns either.

I am talking about one that you have to apply a lot of pressure to the business end for the damn thing to activate, and air powered, since I have a portable air compressor.

LadyPact -> RE: I Admit It I........ (9/26/2016 10:24:37 PM)

Technically, it's called "nail glue," but it's basically the same stuff. [:D]

Dvr22999874 -> RE: I Admit It I........ (9/26/2016 10:32:59 PM)

you want fun with nails..................many years ago when I was cooking at sea, I dropped a cast-iron baking tray, edge down on my toes ( both feet). The tray probably weighed about 25+ kgs, so all the pressure was on an edge about 2 cms deep and about 40 cms wide. Well, it hurt more than a little and yep, the nails came off. They really grow in some weird and wonderful shapes these days. Some are as tough as oxhide and I need a pair of bolt-cutters to clip ém. Others I can just get a grip between finger and thumb and pull the damn things out. they grow sideways and upwards and inwards and a couple hardly grow at all. The doctor says he thinks I have damaged the 'growth-buds' (whatever they are) irreparably and they will always be like that. No shit Sherlock ??? Maybe I should get you and your hammer to come over and give them a bash every so often Jeff, to get rid of the damn things *smile*

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: I Admit It I........ (9/27/2016 7:47:06 AM)

I admit I love tools but suck at using them.
I admit I need to replace my front door frame, have the frame parts but after seeing the hatchet job I Did on the temporary fix, I'm going to have to find someone to fix it for me.

I admit I need a carpenter, STAT. The upstairs doors also need repairs and the master bedroom wood floors need refinishing and I The kitchen laminate needs replaced

I admit my mom agreed to keep the feeding tube but insists on eating "pleasure" foods.
I admit every bite and every time she coughs and chokes I panic.
I admit she comes home Friday and I'm terrified.
I hate to admit to being so cowardly, but there it is.

DesFIP -> RE: I Admit It I........ (9/27/2016 8:27:37 AM)

I admit condolences for Catize. My father's 89 and going down hill slowly. Since he's end stage dementia, I wish it was faster. Seeing him like this is painful.

angelikaJ -> RE: I Admit It I........ (9/27/2016 10:47:07 AM)

You are not a coward!
Not at all.

angelikaJ -> RE: I Admit It I........ (9/27/2016 10:48:11 AM)

My condolences for the death of your dad.

OsideGirl -> RE: I Admit It I........ (9/27/2016 8:14:44 PM)

I admit we're on edge tonight. The police in the neighboring town shot a (possibly unarmed) black man. Crowds are gathering and getting hostile. Less than 5 miles from our house.

GreedyTop -> RE: I Admit It I........ (9/27/2016 11:17:50 PM)

I admit that I am furious and sad at the racially charged hatred that the current election cycle seems to be encouraging.

I admit that Mom is having knee replacement surgery tomorrow, so I am taking a week off from work to take care of her (fortunately, my week coincides with the 2.5 week mark of new ownership... Yay. Fortunately, the previous owners already paid me for accrued vacay time).

I admit that if the current front desk manager declines the Assistant Gen. Mgr. position, I am going to ask to be considered for the position.

I admit my thoughts in that situation is either bunker in place or bug out.

ShaharThorne -> RE: I Admit It I........ (9/28/2016 12:55:46 AM)

I admit that I have been recovering from a MMORPG 3 day binge (it was double xp weekend). Took 2 days to recover with numerous naps and graze feedings.

I admit that my sympathy for catize and the loss of her father.

I admit I am kinda scared for my mom. She has been really runned down lately, sleeping more, got 2 inhalers for newly discovered asthma and got allergies on top of that. I talked her out of going to Arkansas in October because just a trip to town wears her out and that's 30 minutes! Arkansas is 5 hours across the state.

I admit that I had a great time with Lizard while she was up here. Now for her to start her new job!

I admit that the spider lilies are really blooming this year, doubled from last year's turnout.

Magazines are loaded and weapons are near by. Our front door has a Kuna Light, so it notifies and records when someone comes to the front of the house. Garage is secured, phones are charged.

Our camper is stored at M's shop, so we have a safe place to go if we need to.
