i admit i wanna go back to the topic of this ham and cheese sammich...i make them the way my Daddy always did when i was growing up, shaved ham, heated in the skillet first, then when you remove the ham put a slice of whatever bread you are using (buttered on one side with real butter) in the skillet, butter side down, thick slices of colby cheese, tomato slices, more colby cheese, the ham, even more colby cheese and the second slice of bread, butter side up, grill it until the cheese is melted turning when the first side gets brown, slice diagonally and serve with a pickle and a bowl of tomato soup. This was a thick sammich too. i remember as a kid sometimes having to smoosh it down to get it to fit in my mouth. i admit i want to go to Dayton and visit my Daddy now, of course i would have to stay overnight so i could have his pigs in a blanket with homemade country gravy for breakfast.
