After seeing some of the revolting things people upload as profile photos, I am so not looking forward to pictures being allowed on the boards.

Move over there, miss.  I'm in your camp.  How often would a discussion really be IMPROVED with a pic?  And how often would it NOT?

Cali

As happy as I am to see this come to pass, I have to say I'm guessing it will be about, oh, 7 hours - tops - before the function is disabled in Politics. I figure it'll be about that long before somebody gets the bright idea to post a picture of a pile of dog crap in response to someone with whom they disagree.

But for the most part, this could be a lot of fun. I've seen it work well on other boards over the years, and I'm sure that they'll come up with a few basic regs to keep it a benefit rather than a detriment. It'll be interesting to see how it all works out here.

Zero, I have no idea.  I just cannot imagine too many discussions around here being improved with a pic embedded.  Down in Art & Photography, understandable.  But in a discussion?  Unless you're talking about flogger making techniques...

Cali

On other forums in which I'm active, the practice tends to self-regulate for the most part. People posting offensive, excessive, or even gratuitous, images generally get a fair amount of disapproval from their peers, and they soon fall in line with whatever community standard establishes itself. I don't know of any boards on which this is allowed where it's considered problematic in any way, and can't really think of any reason to expect it to be so here. I say what the hell, let's give it a chance and see how it shakes out.

I got plenty of room.  Have a seat.

What I am most dreading are the Ask  A Mistress threads about toilet slavery -- and there seems to be a new one every other day -- that include...ahem...pictorial advertising...of the guy's skills.

Make room for a spot on that couch because I'm with you.

I've been on the site less than three years but in the last third of that time frame, the content isn't nearly as good.  A number of the folks who made this a good place for discussing issues related to BDSM  have found greener pastures and it seems there's more white noise than subject matter.  It seems like there's less and less to do with bondage, discipline, sadism, and masochism and more and more master doesn't call me and what can someone post that is good wanking material.

Embedded pics might be helpful on threads if people were talking about flogging technique or rope ties, but how many threads do we really have going on about those things?

Rolling on the floor re Darth Aquarius pic.

GREAT new feature, thanks, CM !

Cali, everyone knows you've had more pricks than a pin cushion. Seeing a pic or two of a few more won't hurt you a bit. Besides, you like to be hurt some now and then, dontcha ?

In any sane forum, when they allow images in posts, they also add a clear option in people's forum profile settings: HIDE IMAGES. Let us hope this is a sane place. ;)

Brand new threads start that are focused around images, images are their whole point. For example, somebody might start a thread called "The Black Thread" where people are encouraged to post black things, and it may take on a sinister or gothic tone, and roll on forever like some of the polls and games in here.

Or someone might begin a thread called "The silliest Gifs" (picture animations) in which I would personally find myself compelled to post from my most excellent collection. ;)

My creepy fantasies thread would probably be greatly enhanced by images.

...

On second thought...
