Elipsis -> So image posting? (10/25/2009 9:38:49 PM)

Now that the forum supports embedded images, is it permitted to start putting them into our posts?

HatesParisHilton -> RE: So image posting? (10/25/2009 9:40:55 PM)

LOL

slow grind I think, muh man.

Elipsis -> RE: So image posting? (10/25/2009 9:51:49 PM)

???

I thought I remembered reading that image posting wasn't acceptable, and yet there the new features is right there.

ThatDamnedPanda -> RE: So image posting? (10/25/2009 9:51:51 PM)

Yeah, I just started a thread in Polls and Random Stupidity to see if people felt like having a little fun with it, but nobody's joined in yet. Half of them probably don't realize we now can, and the other half will probably take a week just to  get used to the idea.

ThatDamnedPanda -> RE: So image posting? (10/25/2009 9:53:03 PM)

If you go to the "all forums" splash page, there's an announcement saying that it's now allowed in all forums.

Elipsis -> RE: So image posting? (10/25/2009 9:57:47 PM)

"Enabled" and "permitted" are technically different things.

You could get images to work inline awhile ago with the ]img[ tag.

heartcream -> RE: So image posting? (10/25/2009 9:59:43 PM)

Then there is the likes of me who does not know what that means. It sounds like fun though. Embedded images.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: So image posting? (10/25/2009 10:04:00 PM)

After seeing some of the revolting things people upload as profile photos, I am so not looking forward to pictures being allowed on the boards.

HatesParisHilton -> RE: So image posting? (10/25/2009 10:05:50 PM)

let's be fair and artistically egalitarian, guys.

Elipsis, you show heartcream the proper "code" by which to post a pic.

Panda, you show heartcream the url of any thread where you's like to SEE pic...

and I will BUST MA ASS making a pic to post for BOTH of you in said thread that you will BOTH like.

how's that sound?

(my only caveat is that it must simultaneously shrivel the ballsacks of Bush supporters yet also comply wit TOS)

Well, to my knowledge this has always technically worked, but was not permitted in most forums.  Just quote to see how the tag works.  Apparently that doesn't work on this board.  Just put ]img[ in front of the image url and ]/img[ after.  (Obviously reverse those brackets when you do it.)

Note that this method does not upload the file to cm.com so you have to have it hosted somewhere else.

This is Darth Aquatus.  He is the bathroom Sith Lord.

ThatDamnedPanda -> RE: So image posting? (10/25/2009 10:20:00 PM)

Mr. Hiltonhater, I just want to see your smiling face beaming out at me every time I open a thread in which you've posted. Then I can die happy. But I started a thread in "Polls etc." entitled "Say It In Pictures", hoping to encourage people to express themselves and get a little silly with the new toy.

Heartcream, it's easy. Just click the "post reply" icon and the option is now included in the reply window. All you have to do is check a radio button and upload the image of your choice. A piece of pie, it is.

Freakin Sweet! This TOTALLY magnifies the value of the NZ Emoticon Collection!

Move over there, miss.  I'm in your camp.  How often would a discussion really be IMPROVED with a pic?  And how often would it NOT?

Not nearly ominous enough.

Fantastic.

Great, a glowing red duck's... wand.  How soon before we see a glowing red man's... wand?  Do you really wanna see that here?

Well, what are the image regulations? Are pictures of any "rating" acceptable? Are there consequences to gratuitous sexual image postings or images used to incite volatility and harassment?

See now why do you have to sexuality everything like that.

Sometimes a lightsaber is just a lightsaber.

Zero, I have no idea.  I just cannot imagine too many discussions around here being improved with a pic embedded.  Down in Art & Photography, understandable.  But in a discussion?  Unless you're talking about flogger making techniques...

Or ropework tutorials. Or "I heart my bruises!" threads. Or, as I may make available, a wider range of available emoticons (although it would defeat the purpose of having them as a "prize" if anyone can copy the image location and use it thereafter...).

I presume the image regulations would still fall under the normal site rules: not to be used for harassment purposes; not to display engaging in non-related outright illegal activities...
