But I know what you mean. I initially had an open mind on the subject of screen-names but over time I've come to see that there can be a difference between those whose nicks include banal interpretations of BDSM & sex acts, & those who've chosen expressions of their personality, sometimes even intriguing, evocative, beautiful, or whatever ones . . . . . .

Actually Kia, I'm going to disagree. People are not always original, and they may choose such a poor name but then figure that they have to be stuck with it. Since you can't change your screen name here and if you decide you don't like it then you lose your posting history and most people don't remember who you were.

Linking to the previous profile is no good because it brings up in your sig line the name you're trying to hide.

Plus guys, more then women, tend to be literal. They figure it's a sex site, they ought to be blunt about what they want sexually.

DemonKia -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/5/2009 9:45:19 AM)

You're just not engaging a long enough timeline. She's no Brooke Astor, & I doubt she ever will be . .. . . . My money's on 'footnote in under two decades', & a minor one at that . . . . .

I think you need to add your thoughts on anal leeches

DesFIP -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/5/2009 9:53:02 AM)

Profile wise - it says to me you don't want to meet anyone.
The whole thing about reading seems to say if they aren't a reader, and many people aren't, then you assume they won't listen to their partner. I believe that's a fallacy.

Basically it talks about stuff you like but no sense of who you are.

If you hope someone great will read it and contact you, then I doubt you'll be lucky. For that, you'll need to do the reading and make first contact.

If all you want is to give info to forumites, it's successful. Pity you can't link to your other profiles though.

50 points just for: "My hovercraft is full of eels."

[:D]

pahunkboy -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/5/2009 9:59:51 AM)

I am not crazy over- "no fakes and frauds" ect.

isn't that likes saying don't throw bugars at me and poop on my living room floor?

2.   move the important item lower higher up.  no one has attention span.

If possible make the link work.

I LOVE the varied colors and that is a plus.  You do have content in it- that is a plus.

FR, after continuing read thru

Missokyst -- will do!

Des -- thank you, that's very helpful. I'll be ruminating on you & LP's advice quite seriously for the next formulation . . . . .

Nihilus -- Yay! my first NZ points! *curtseys* I aims to edify . . .. .

Pahunk -- I absolutely agree, I've been feeling more & more inclined to totally re-work that opening section . .. . & the profile part is still too long, tho' it was way longer before this edit, lol . . . . . . The profile part should be relatively short & 'punchy' & the rest can go into journal entries . . . . . .

A gigantonormous Thank you!!! to all who have responded so far; I appreciate your time & energy . . . . . .

First points? Are you sure?! That can't be right... *scratches head*

+50 points for a balance you should have prior to the post above.

NihilusZero -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/5/2009 10:48:12 AM)

To be a bit more serious, it does paint a very different picture than what I recall from your old profile. Very whimsical, quirky, and impish. Good things. *nod*

DemonKia -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/5/2009 10:58:24 AM)

I have an onward-heretical-soldiers campaign of positivity going on, primarily aimed at me but it sweeps whoever in .... . So I'm glad to hear that it's discernible. Agreed -- impish, quirky, & whimsical are all good things . . . . .

pahunkboy -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/5/2009 11:13:59 AM)

Mine was a disaster... so I snipped it-  near the top- is says I am here mostly for Casual banter.

DemonKia -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/5/2009 11:22:16 AM)

*missed this one the first time 'round*

I'm going to disagree that we disagree, lol, cuz I mostly agree with what you've written, below. Which is why I try to maintain a flexible attitude about the usernames . . . . . I wish I could convey how powerfully effective a well-chosen moniker can be to those who need that info the most, but, yeah, well . . . . .. . *shrugs*

Kia, overall, it's fine. Very artistic, and a showcase for your humor. I'd get rid of about half the quotes, and replace them with your thoughts on what you're looking for, and I'd ditch the opening, about scammers, etc. I get sick of seeing that kind of stuff in profiles, to the point where I can hardly take the person serious.

wandersalone -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/6/2009 2:39:44 AM)

hi Kia

Just read your profile [:)]

It makes me imagine that meeting you would be a very intense experience to put it mildly.  To me it gives a sense of someone who can jump with  mercurial speed from one topic to another mid stream.

My other thought is that the profile, how it is set out, the colours, writing styles etc almost dares people a) to read the entire thing and if they do read it b) to contact you.  I wonder if some people will read the profile and rather than thinking hey I can easily send a one liner to this person will back away realising that you are too ....... damn I can't think of exactly what I want to say, but it is almost as if you will be too vibrant for a lot of people (and that is a wonderful and rare gift by the way)

DemonKia -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/6/2009 12:14:17 PM)

FR, after continuing read thru

Level -- thank you for that very specific feedback, that's extremely useful . . . . . & is consistent with what LP & Des said . . . . .

Wanders -- thank you, that's lovely . . . . The idea of 'seducing' people with my words, luring them to read despite themselves, is very attractive . . . .. & I am a very intense person, so I'm glad to hear I adequately convey that . . . . . .

There's this tension that goes on for me between wanting to 'reach out' to as wide an audience as possible & knowing that the 'weal twue' selection of potential partners is a fraction of a percentage of the whole . . . . . .

I again want to reiterate how much I appreciate all of you for taking the time to help me out, I've found all of this excellent material for shaping the next version . . . . .

mnottertail -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/6/2009 12:26:39 PM)

I tried. I don't have the attention span, sorry.

Truely,
Ron

DemonKia -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/6/2009 12:35:55 PM)

lol

It's okay, I understand . . . .

I mean, there's no oral anywhere in all that verbal . . . . . . [;)]

Maybe I'll catch you on the next version . . . .

mnottertail -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/6/2009 12:36:27 PM)

hit me up with some mouth shots, K?
