DemonKia -> Please Critique My Profile (10/5/2009 5:41:47 AM)

Okay, up front, I gotta say the idea of opening myself up to the CM peer-review process is more than a little scary, but here goes . ... .

I have 3 profiles (greedy, I know), & I have used them to construct a somewhat Rube-Goldbergian spam-trap . . . . . & it works pretty well -- the DemonKia profile gets hardly any of the much-complained-about types of mail. The other two profiles get that stuff . . . . . (Jus' for the fyi's of it . . .. . )

Anyways. I took a hiatus of sorts from 'the search', but I'm slowly easing back into it. I recently re-wrote my profile (for the umpteenth time), & I decided this time I'd make myself deliberately vulnerable to the perspective of others. I'll probably do another big re-write as the new year approaches . . . . .

Thanks much!!

*jumps*

Justme696 -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/5/2009 5:48:45 AM)

I like it it is different. Fresh approach.
But is pretty busy. Had to reread it several times ( but I am non english.)
Part about you mixed with quotes.
But I think the complexity ( that I expereince) will filter the real people from the "fakes"

Mm does it make sense what I try to say?

DemonKia -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/5/2009 6:30:08 AM)

Thank you. Yes, it does . . . . .

I don't want it to be an 'easy' profile, & that's cuz I do want it to 'filter' . . . . .

I appreciate you taking the time, & being kind, both . . . . . .

Moonhead -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/5/2009 6:40:20 AM)

Stylish, but a little unwieldy. Is that deliberate?

DemonKia -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/5/2009 6:48:29 AM)

Yep. If they're not gonna read text, they won't read long or short . . . . & I mostly come in an unabridged version in person, so why lead them down the short-version path?

& I'm not sure why this got moved here. S-types put up this kinda thing in the S forum; D / M types put up these questions in the M forums; I put this up in Switch, cuz I was most interested in hearing from other switches, but thanks to the great gods of CollarChat arbitrariness, here it is . . . . . .

GreedyTop -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/5/2009 7:00:53 AM)

I liked your profile... lots of giggles in there :)

zephyroftheNorth -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/5/2009 7:03:02 AM)

Love the profile Kia.......a nice mix of quotes, giggles, and "you".......gonna start on the journal entries soon

LadyPact -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/5/2009 7:14:04 AM)

It was a unique approach.  I've used the 'direct people to read somewhere else' method Myself before.  Not to other sites, but to specific threads here.  It was very short lived because I didn't like the result.

With the exception of specifically pointing out your vanilla interests, I didn't especially come away with the feeling that it was about you.  It seemed more like a number of quotes that you enjoyed.

DarkSteven -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/5/2009 7:20:35 AM)

Needs more nude pics.

HatesParisHilton -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/5/2009 7:49:07 AM)

report card (because that's a good joke for us, using "anti-learning" devices to mocking grade the ungrade-able, ha)

layout:  A +

semiotic blend: B +  (some of the tiniest font phrases are in colours hard to see/hurts squinty eyes; testing people is good, harming their sight-eggs is a bit much to ask...)

info flavour:  is there a score above A +?  mayyyyybe...  double plus double-good?

see, I like the way the empty spaces are spaced PRECISELY in a slightly IMPERFECT MANNER to subtextually speak (silently) volumes.  Those that don't hear the dance steps in those silences are missing out.

also the musical influence shows and if sound were sight it glimmers throughout the piece.  Especially the way you do a grammatic and verbal tromp l'oile with it starting out semi-heavy and it ends with Spike Milligan El Wacko funsies.

however, on "killing kittens" (as per writing/editing) you get a "C" on one account ~

Gertrude Stein is an uncreative hack who's words are to verbal magic what Tor Johnson is to Ballet.  She has no more place in your work, even or especialy a profile than the uber-hackstress Genrmaine Greer.

well done, very very.  [:)][:)][:)]

FR, after continuing read thru

Greedy, Zephyr -- thanks mucho . . .. I try to make it entertaining for the many who will read & pass on by . . . . . Especially those possessing that elusive 'sense of humor' . . . . .

LadyPact -- thank you, I'll be contemplating your offering. I tend to agree with what you're saying . . . . .

Steven -- Duly noted. I tend to agree with what you're saying, also . . . lol

Hiltie -- Awww, you're such a sweetie . . . . . & I live suffused in music, external or internal, so I'm not surprised it shows . . . . . .

Your review is so glowing, even if we differ in how we feel about Gertie . . . . . . (& those quotes are some of my all time faves . . . . . *heavy sigh* . . . . . Tho' I am leaning in the direction of stripping quotes out of my stuff to a much greater degree & constraining them to more limited venues . . . . . )

DemonKia -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/5/2009 8:55:36 AM)

I can understand. I don't think it's terribly persuasive in the direction of 'go from the DK profile to this one or that', but it works wonders the other way: approach my DemonKia profile if motivated enough, coming from the two subsidiary profiles.

As near as I can tell, the labels 'dominant', 'sub', & 'slave' get the maximal traffic, & 'switch' gets the least. (Caveat that I'm a pink-red & patterns are probably different for the blue & purple labels.)

Other things that seem to draw the less-desirable approaches: checking any of the 'seeking' boxes ('dom women', 'sub trans', etc) & sexual / BDSM interests . .. . So I've got those segregated to the 'bottom' & 'top' profiles . . . . .

I do actually (& somewhat surprisingly) get people contacting me via the 'proper' pathway -- they'll see the bottom or top profile & then contact my switch profile. The results have exceeded my expectations, so far . .. . . . *fingers crossed* . . . . .

& I refine as I go. I figure 'the search' will take a few years, at minimum, so a trickle of 'solid interest' is fine . . . .

HatesParisHilton -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/5/2009 9:04:14 AM)

it'd be so much easier if names were sorted according to originality, or lack thereof.

I mean if there could be a  que, were all the "Evilkitty666"'s and "MakeYouSufferBitch9"'s were automatically "last",  it'd be more fun.

they'd have to work to even have the honour of you telling them they have to read and laugh more first!

DemonKia -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/5/2009 9:14:45 AM)

Ah, Hiltie, 'originality' is such a subjective thing; one could have as such a criteria the filtering out of names featuring fleeting pop-cultural figures, for instance, lol . . ..

[;)]

But I know what you mean. I initially had an open mind on the subject of screen-names but over time I've come to see that there can be a difference between those whose nicks include banal interpretations of BDSM & sex acts, & those who've chosen expressions of their personality, sometimes even intriguing, evocative, beautiful, or whatever ones . . . . . .

HatesParisHilton -> RE: Please Critique My Profile (10/5/2009 9:38:19 AM)

I WISH the bitch was fleeting.
