FR, after read thru Okay, first I had to laugh at the notion of trying to blackmail Letterman for garden-variety nookie, he'd be at the bottom of my list of people I might possibly think would be shamed / embarrassed / whatever enough to cough up blackmail moolah . .. . . lol . . . . Dude's been practically salivating over every good-looking female sitting in his interview chair for all these decades now; that tendency is part of the charm, & watching how the savvy femmes play with it . . . . . & it took him forever to 'settle down', which tends to imply that he has, um, shall we call them 'bachelor' tendencies -- he's a wild-&-crazy guy (Czech accent optional) . ... . . I went & read thru the coverage in TMZ.com & the extortionist was the ex-boyfriend (recently broken up) of a woman Letterman admits having fooled around with prior to the birth of his kid (circa 2003, by his wife tho' they married after the baby -- this whole story gets complicated really fast) . . . . & the previous flame-employee broke up with her boyfriend & said boyfriend had access to her materials (correspondence or whatever) that demonstrated that she & Dave had been doin' the nasty back in the day, so boyfriend made his play. The extortionist's reported to be a producer for the television news show 48 Hours -- wow!!?!?! As to that whole sexual-harassment thing, *scoffs* . . . . The entertainment industry tolerates a higher level of screwing around between coworkers, even subordinate & boss, than would be true of lots of other industries . . . . . It's not necessarily a certainty that legal action will stem from this, but I also suspect that any employees Dave fools around with are suitably bought off. It's really only the stupid-tightwad super-rich Don-Juan-employers that have to have problems . . . . . .
