Yes, kids learn from their parents, or don't learn, as the case may be.

I tell you one thing, the chances of me uttering a peep, much less acting like a fool, in public as a child was ZERO. Did. Not. Happen. And it wasn't just because of my naturally sweet nature, it's how I was taught.

poor Magic Mullet Woman!

(hugs Hols)

funny thing for both of you:

the old folks chitter to each other to compensate for not hearing bits of the movie.

but hearing loss means that any competing noise means you hear LESS of the main thing you are listening to.

which means more old folks in the audience will then start chattering.  which means MORE  competing noice, and then...

well, did you two ever see the ping-pong balls on mousetraps example of nuclear fission when you were kids in school?  LOL

Aside from the usual rudeness, and BS to be found in movie theatres, there seems to be a growing trend of small groups of friends going to films specifically to mock the movie.Loudly and in as unfunny a manner as only post-high schoolers can manage. I guess this sort of thing got started at midnight movies like Rocky Horror (which I loved) and also on cable with MST3K (which I also loved.) But come on, people... doing this at "Shindlers List?!"

I hope they try that when some of my Israeli ex-military pals are in the theatre.

they'll be having to explain to the ER doctor why they have Magen Davids 5 inches deep in their rectums.

LOL pure.

Lashra, you hit upon another huge peeve of mine, the seat-kickers

All this boils down to cluelessness. I hate that.

I have to admit I have been known to kick a seat or 2 but not on purpose, They don't make seating very comfortable for a 6'3" 210# frame.I think it's funny how there is seating for physically handicap people but those that are restricted by height need to just suck it up so to say.

Over the years I put up with my share of loud talking, seat kicking, and people having sex without inviting me, in the movie theaters. But my biggest complaint is the theaters, themselves. For the last 15 years or so I have only gone to theaters under duress because they have all gotten to the point of playing the audio WAY too loud. The last few times I have gone I've taken ear protection simply so I won't have a headache when I leave.

We do still have a drive in near here, but all in all I would still rather just wait until a movie comes out on DVD and either rent or buy it so I can play it at home, dress (or undress) however I want, set the volume how I like it, stop the movie to go to the bathroom and not miss any of it, have reasonably priced popcorn and soda, etc and etc. It's simply a better situation all the way around.

HPH: so, if I hurl ping pong balls at the old goats, it'd almost kinda be like a science experiment!

MrCapricorn: doing something like that on accident, is fine, I begrudge no one simple human error.

Igor: you bring up a great point. I've been to a couple that were uncomfortable, volume-wise. I wonder how many people have stopped going to the theater for that very reason?
