Status: offline 		I am interested in doing some online work and have tried to do some investigating on my own.  Every time I think I found something interesting they ask for money!  I am not willing to give up money because I am trying to make extra money myself.
 
I have a 2 year degree in business and have experience in office management and retail management.  I am working on another degree at this moment and working part-time in marketing.
 
So if anyone knows of online jobs that are authentic please share the information.  Both Master and I will be appreciative.

Status: offline 		You might do some searching for virtual assistants.  It's supposed to be the up and coming way to work.  i know very little about it, so please don't consider this an endorsement.  i heard about it first from my brother (we won't go there..lol), but even the CNN Sunday afternoon "Money" mentioned it.  Hope it works out for you.

Status: offline 		I don't know what kind of work you're looking for either, but you're right in not paying for a job.  A job is supposed to pay you and if they ask for money (other than for a background check) I would run.  As a matter of fact (and this is just me), while some legitimate jobs require you to get a paypal account, I wouldn't take an online job unless they either mailed me a paper check, or direct deposited my check.  Here are a couple of sites you can check out for legitimate work-at-home jobs.  The wahm site is worth reading if you've never worked at home, before.

1. Doing Election Poll Calls, inputing that data in a program, sending that to the employer, I got that, however, through a friend. (works)

2. Selling stuff on ebay, which is less about the internet and more about finding sources of product. (works)

3. My current endeavor of building niche websites. (works).

Jobs I've researched and looked legit, as in asked for no money, and were real companies.

1. Telephone support. Sorry, don't remember the company name. The one I was looking at still required you to go onsite for initial training.

You are right though, as in no real job on the internet I've seen and I've looked in the past, will require you to pay. Though that probably is a way to make money if so inclined, as  in making e-books out of public information and charging for them.

Though the only positions i'm looking to fill at the moment are 3D modellers, concept artists and a new design lead. As well as some upcoming in-game support staff positions that are not as fun as they sound lol. I'm not sure you'd want any of those positions.

What type of support? I mean, technical support? or game support? (IE: "How do i sell my weapons/armor" - sorry for the RPG reference, those are usually the type of games I play, lol)

Just curious, as I have a background in IT, and am currently unemployed. Any filler work I can find would be great. If you want, feel free to shoot me an email on the other side with specifics.

My line of work is in administration and clerical/customer service.  I am going to college at the moment which will cost me, in the end, around 30,000 dollars.  In order to keep my cost down I would like to find something to help bring money in so that I do not have to access the loans for my living expenses.  I am in an office administration program which will bring me another degree.

We do not need more bean counters.    We need people to grow food, to change diapers, and to dig graves.    The days of virtual work are over.

Now- figure out what YOU can do- in the human needs - solve THAT- and you will have work.

Not everything can be monetized.  Nor is monetization the final value of any need.

As to your school- people with a degree a a dime a dozen.   How many on the board here have a student loan?   Likely 50%.  A mortgage with out a house.

Save your self some grief.  This economic collapse will mean- that the entire work world will change.

Be creative- and you will be fine.    Necessity is the mother of all invention.

I work half the week at home, online. Entirely online would be difficult--only some of my work can be done online. I'm good with half the week.

But it depends on the job. I don't see how you'd manage an office or a retail location online, and with a two year degree, you can't claim realms of experience or credentials.

That leaves starting your own online business--which takes money and knowledge, but can be done, if you're sensible.

Status: offline 		I often do computer clean-up over the net.  It would be nice if this type of job could be published over a large area instead of just doing this as part of my regular onsite job connections.  I know that in the past I have done this for regular clients who were out of state at the time.  :) If there were a successful way to let me do this all the time I would be jazzed!

Status: offline 		To the OP: I have a friend who builds websites. I am not certain how she drums up business, though. One former colleague does life and business coaching online; he'd established a lot of contacts during his previous careers.

I do not know which degree the OP is looking to obtain. Depending on her goals, it might not be very useful for her to obtain the free course materials (not 100% of them either) -- it is not the same as attending an MIT class, by any means: http://ocw.mit.edu/OcwWeb/web/about/about/index.htm

Status: offline 		My education is in business and educating more for the upgrading then anything else...plus I love educating myself!
For education I much prefer having live instruction.  I am not interested in ebay because I have went that route and it does not challenge me enough to continue on that path.
My goal is to find part-time work not full-time work online.  As for MIT, if I want a degree from there I do have to pay for it. 

I am knowledgeable in writing html and xml, and have maintained websites for a company that I worked for at one time but since leaving that company they have closed their doors otherwise I would have asked for that job once again, so if I could find something in that line I would do my best.  The job I seek at the moment will not be a career move, just for the time being until I graduate where I will then move into an HR position, where I have experience. 

In time I will be starting my own website, kinky one at that......and that will be an income maker also.

Status: offline 		Amazon has something call Amazon Mechanical Turk (https://www.mturk.com/mturk/welcome) where you can do some sort of online work for companies and get paid. I was going to try it out myself at some point, but haven't gotten around to it.
