I finally learned to spell sadomasochist the other day because my daughter thinks a masochist is one who gives pain (I have been threatening to wax her legs and armpits...) and I corrected her. I enjoy both giving and receiving pain.

I also learned due to my hair thinning and falling out (a drug side effect), I cannot colour or perm my hair again. I am sick of straight hair...LOL!

What have I learned recently?

well...I learned that I have a teenager who is fearless when it comes to speaking her mind...I have learned that hiding my phone does not equal losing my phone ...I have learned that teen drivers are better than adults on the road ...and I have learned that my life is truly blessed

I have learned that one small white dog can shed enough hair in 7 days to create another small white dog and one pair of tiny slippers

I learned that left brain people have completely different communication styles than right brain people.  Seems pretty obvious, but i only just now figured it out.

I've learned that there are some conversations I shouldn't get into. Actually I have learned this before, a geat many times before but for some reason I am cursed to forget it and re-learn it.

I've learned that some people just don't get it, yet I am still learning what it is.

I learned not to eat anything from the local subway... ended up with really really bad food poisoning the other night from a sub.

I also learned that some people have very odd moral standards with it comes to relationships and uh relatives....

I learned not to eat at a Subway, too. Fortunately, that is one lesson that has stuck.

(seafood sub my ass - I recognize that fake crab shit no matter how much mayo you drench it in - and I specifically said no pickles!)

Oh, thanks alot you guys.  I just walked into a Subway at 8:50 pm today and ordered a fake crab sub.  I guess it's only  a matter of time.  I guess I learned to check on CM before ordering food.

yours

Well that was unexpected lol. We're not trying to put you off of them. Just be careful...see I don't like that they keep the ingredients out on the counter instead of in a fridge - its just not sanitary. Incidently mine was a grilled chicken and olive sub but I do hear you on the imitation crab meat. They really rip people off on that. Oh and to anyone who may be visiting Nova Scotia at some point, I highly recommend two restaurants: Damascus, in Truro and Opa, a Greek place in Halifax. Sadly the only two places in the entire province I would consider worth eating at.

I love Halifax.. beautiful city :)

I learned today that quitting smoking is going to be harder than I thought, because the zyban makes me shaky and out of sorts, so I'm not taking it properly.....

A former neighbour girl used zyban to quit smoking. She had used it one year before and then quit because of the adverse effects. Two years ago - one year later - she used it again. Being familiar with the adverse effect (which caused me to worry), she persisted until she felt that she had achieved her objective and to my relief stopped using the zyban before the end of her supply.

She did not smoke for half a year, then tried one cigarette - and another and another. She has been smoking again for about eighteen months now; secretly so that her parents do not notice that she has succumbed to the addiction again.

I learned that left brain people have completely different communication styles than right brain people. Seems pretty obvious, but i only just now figured it out.

People who are right brain dominant use colourful language? People who are left brain dominant talk like they are reading from an instruction sheet telling them how to put together shelves?

This has always been my problem with journal entries: “Today I went to the post office because the package I wanted to send wouldn’t fit through the post box.”
Other people say: “Today I went on a spiritual journey and discovered that when something seems physically impossible to do it can be overcome by travelling further in life (to the post office in the next town) and discovering a better answer.”

This is why my journal entries are shyte.

What is this difference from your perspective?

I have learned sadly, that my days of using clear fishing line are behind.  This morning as I tried to put new line on my reels, I could not see any of the line.  I just sat there, coffee cup in hand looking out at the lake, thankful I did not wait until I was on the boat to change my line.  Ahhh...age, it catches up with you

Haha, i liked your example.  I've just noticed that RBs tend to use more abstract language while LBs need something more concrete.  I can explain something to a fellow right brainer and they understand but if i use the same language with a left brainer, i often end up having to reexplain in a different manner.

I noticed this by having a few conversations on the same topic, using the same language, with both types.  RB says "Yeah!", LB says, "Huh?"

I'm working on be a better communicator and on my patience level, so i think it helps to identify the style of the person with whom one is speaking.
