Pookie was drinking water & all of a sudden leaped sideways & took off like something had attacked him. He jumped so fast that he somehow moved the water dish even!! Then he laid down on a piece of plastic on the floor & stretched his front legs out to knead his bed. I just looked down there to see if he was still there & the bed is missing. I found it across the room. I think we're having poltergeists today.

I sat in my chair and tried to read. First, Angel jumped up on the arm of the chair for her cuddles. Then, Misty got jealous and jumped up on the arm of the chair and wanted her cuddles. I can pet one cat and read my book, but not two, so I just got up and did something else, LOL.

soul2share, looks like the kittehs had fun exploring the cabinets in the new place.

Angel hasn't gone out in 2 days, but begged to go out a few minutes ago. With the triple-digit temps she may cut her outdoor time short, but then again maybe not. I like the weekends where she can go outside in peace during the day without the busybody possibly reporting her.

Misty is sauntering around the house, looking for some mischief to get into.

So last night I spilled some iced tea on the kitchen floor, cleaned it up with some paper towels, and threw the paper towels into the trash. Pagla, one of my cats, watched.

This morning I woke up and went into the kitchen to find a shredded roll of fresh paper towels precisely where the spill had been. Apparently Pagla had decided that I hadn't done a thorough enough job, knocked over a new roll from the top of the refrigerator, pushed it to the right spot and er, "cleaned" with it.

Frankly, I'm just glad that he isn't polydactyl and doesn't have opposable "thumbs".

Yeah, the day they can open the pop tops on the cans themselves, I am sooooo screwed!!!!!  That's about the ONLY thing they haven't figured out how to open.  Squeaks can rip a bag of cat food open in about a minute, a bag of treats in about 2.....that plastic is a little tougher, she actually has to use her widdle toofies instead of her claws.  There isn't a cupboard made that KB can't get into.

Mystic, the kittehs still love the cupboards...they go all the way to the ceiling, and the top shelves are all empty.  KB will get racing around, jump on the fridge and into the cupboards.....BANG!  CRASH!!  The other day I opened one and got beaned by my magic bullet chopper blade.  Apparently, having things on the shelf don't matter to him!  Squeaks likes the one above the fridge for her napping hidey-hole.

Da Boyz are both polydactyl & have the opposable thumbs but they haven't figured out how to do much but lie around sleeping. Every now & again one of them will wake up to demand food or water, maybe bat a toy for a minute, but that's about it.

Yesterday, I was low on cash, so I bought the $1.99 clay litter. Booga went to the litter box, looked in it, looked up at me & back at the box. Like he was saying, "What is this crap???" He then walked away. Picky, picky!!!

Miss S jumped out the front door today, and found that it was so hot, she just jumped back into the a/c'd house, lol. Any other time, I would have had to chase & catch her.

Speaking of polydactyl cats, I seem to recall Leslie Fish once claiming that she was trying to breed particularly intelligent domestic cats with polydactyl paws, and that her kitties were about as intelligent as human six-year-olds, albeit without symbolic intelligence.

That would be an interesting experiment. I've had cats who were extremely intelligent. I always said that Mr. Cat wasn't a cat at all, but a higher being in a cat suit. His intelligence was astounding. He understood English, spoken in full sentences. Imagine if he'd had opposable thumbs.

Angel was so cute today. I was sitting in my arm chair studying, with my arms atop each side holding the book. She must have thought I needed to be "groomed" because she jumped up on one of the arms of the chair and started licking my arm with a great sense of purpose, LOL.

Smooch and Boo will lick my hands until they are red, Mystic.  I don't know why, it's just something they've always done.  They usually do it at night, when everyone's settled down to bed.

Mine are all spread out in the living room making like rugs.  Or cushions on the couch.  I can't believe I'm actually sitting at the puter with no interference!  Course, now that I've said that......

When I moved into a place in the Bay Area of San Francisco, I inherited an "outdoor" cat. As soon as I moved my things in, he came in the house, took one look at me & got all gooey eyed. He jumped up on the couch & began to purr & drool while looking at me. Soon he started an every night ritual: I'd get my nightie on & sit on the couch to watch a little tv before bed. Marble would lie next to me & hold my hand with his paws & groom it. When he felt that the top was groomed enough, he would use his paws to turn it over & groom the palm. All the while looking up at me with gooey eyes. A cat grooming is a sign of deep respect & devotion & Marble wanted me to know how happy he was that I had come into his life & rescued him from the outdoor life he'd always had.

Booga occasionally grooms me, but not to the extent that Marble did. Pookie still just barely tolerates me. *sigh*

My cat never grooms me, but she grooms the dog constantly! I guess I know where I stand now, lol.
