ORIGINAL: LillyoftheVally I have inadvertently done a test, as this is a new profile and some people know who I am (yeah like I made it hidden) they will know I was pretty well established as an over obsessive poster. However I have noticed that due to my perceived newness some members have been far more likely to get the torches out than they would have been previously (I mean I never got it with my last name) I am only writing this because I know that it is a pretty frequent question about this site, whether the length of time someone has been here or the icon under their image impacts on how people receive them. It does I think that part of it is that we do not have enough of a new person's history. Often times I have seen people with few posts start a thread about a relationship problem. Well, we really do not know the whole story or even a little bit of background. So it is like looking at a bit of mirror, through a key-hole, in the dark. And so they get snarky responses. People that have many posts to their name, are more well known on the boards, and so more background information is known about them, and so it is easier to give a better response. Add to that, I think that people that have been posting a little longer have a better idea of how to word a question so that a specific thing can be asked. Kind of like learning to write a thesis statement in school. When people start out, they make their statement much to broad for their paper. With time and practice they are able to get specific. Just my thoughts on this. I could be wrong.
