Oh LP, that gave Me a lovely chuckle! Having just moved again ourselves ... I know what You mean. However, we did our own packing this time, and our local D/s friends are babysitting the cross and subby seat and I made sure they collected those nice and early. Last time the cross got marked down on the ineventory as "wooden frame" ... when the young lad was unpacking it again he asked "What's this used for?" to which I answered "Not sure you'd want to find out!" However, as ours has an inclined footboard on it, I have called it a giant easel before now. We use an old rowing bench as a spanking bench ... which would be a good disguise if either of us remotely looked like we used it for its intended purpose! And the "black wooden bed ... beware hardware sticking out" on the inventory had us chuckling some too.

The figurine brought an extra grin, just before our first home open this time, I did a lap of the house to check it out. Fortunately ducked head into our large walk in robe ... and spied 4 bondage teddies large as life! Just had time to prop a spare pillow in front of them as the estate agent arrived. Later she said that one couple was particularly impressed with the size of the wardrobe ... phew!

Even our van isn't entirely vanilla - there are some toys in the underbelly and some in the closet, though you'd have to go looking for those. But when Master's sister dropped by, He was mortified to realise that a note I'd left Him when I was up late watching TV 2 nights before was still stuck on the wall ... with "Master" and "Your slavegirl" clearly evident! Hopefully she didn't see it. However, I do agree with others, I doubt the "lil one" comment raised much of an eyebrow.

Good luck with the move LP, I'll be thinking of You! The Chev is nearly fixed, so hoping that this time there will be no repeat of the problem and we can get on the move too!

Lessee... various artwork on the walls, a stuffed bondage tiger (femdom), a few floggers and a crop floating around. Of course, I almost NEVER have anyone over...

LadyP... the movers have seen it before, most likely (I used to listen to stories from movers, back when I was driving trucks..)

My home is pretty average to everyone except a crew of folks who might descend upon it to inventory it. I think some of us might like to think that we stand out from the crowd more than we do but we really don't.

Story of o as my bed time book at the moment plus my own writing done in pencil in a handmade paper book in the middle of the night...and my own published erotica somewhere hidden amongst the therapy books...

The only "bdsm" stuff I own is a small bag of toys. Otherwise my home looks like the average typical home...no headboard with rings or ropes, no hidden bdsm furniture, no bdsm books, nada..and the bag is always just kept in my closet.

I have two hooks in the ceiling but no one has ever questioned. I'm guessing they think I use them to hang my worksuits or ferns.

All my bdsm toys and books are in my bedroom and not totally out of site. I don't think it would bother people, since just entering my house would make many people nervous. There are tons of witch books all over the place, pentacles, altars set up and my tarot cards are all over the place.

It is all in the eye of the beholder..... I know many moms who use KY in their beach bags ( keeps the um's legs from getting a chafe rash when this thighs rub together. OP:

I down sized from a 3000 sq ft home to a 500 sq ft apt so what is out an about has down sized..
Upon entering you see a table that has for a base a man holding it up..he has little chains on..on the table is a Goddess Figure..above that erotic art.

ALL toys are in plastic tubs with lids in my bedroom with pillows on top for extra seating.
MY corset and some clothing are display items on wooden mannequin boards.
At times my masks are in the bathroom hung with jewelry.
There may be a leash ot 2 about.
All large items are in storage.
There are tons of books and DVDs around to indicate BDSM..

THE only time I do a check and hide is for when my grandsons visit .
I move my books and DVD's and have no DOM clothing out..and the antique gate which acts as tool rack is covered.

We have plenty of items hidden in plain sight. Biggest is our 'love swing' frame outside our bedroom. When not in use as intended it serves as a place to hang a bird feeder. It can support 300 pound of bird seed! Look close and you can see the customization. There are places on it where I attach the eye-bolts for when we use it at our house parties. There are many things you can observe with a keen eye for kink. I also hang a few things from my bedpost, like a back scratcher and electric fly-swatter. I've actually used the back scratcher on my back a few time. Most of our toys and furniture is in our little home dungeon and its locked. I'm sure the mystery of this 'off limits', locked door, is probably much more enticing than anything else in the house. However we doubt any of our adult kids really want to know for sure what's behind the door.

I am so glad I started this thread. Not only for the comedy factor. (I find the oddest things funny.) Special thanks to GT for the joke. The furniture movers got a good chuckle over it.

To add to that even more reasons. Due to a bit of insomnia last night, I wasn't quite awake when the furniture movers got here. I quickly threw on clothes and came out to start showing them what goes. For inventory purposes, they have to have descriptions for everything. My brain cells weren't quite firing when within the first few minutes of this, I was asked what the spanking bench was. Thanks to this thread, I had an answer. "It's a padded bench." I had to use that answer five times today. It was even funnier when one of the guys told Me they would have to unscrew the eyebolts before putting it on the truck.

For those who pooh-poohed the thread, saying that they've seen everything and it doesn't matter, that didn't turn out to be the case today. Movers *will* ask. The way I see it, if they were kinky, they would have known in the first place. This was one of those times where the 'do you really want to know' cliche probably wouldn't have been appropriate, since it was a business situation, rather than a personal one.

Glad they got a chuckle about :) It makes me giggle, several years later..LOL

as far as them asking, just point out that their job is to pack the stuff and move it, not question it... ;) I've got stuff that movers (if I'd use them) would question... for instance, Why do you have so many kitty litter containers? (answer: it's better than cardboard boxes for packing fragile stuff). Answer to THEM.. it works for me. Just pack the stuff, if ya don't mind.

oooh goodness.... we've a lot of (bdsm) books round in the study, and toys in boxes. none of that would stand out a lot tho. see, there's a lot of holloween stuff strewn about (skulls, bats, witch stuff, ect). She collects the stuff.. whatever, it makes Her happy, makes me happy. :)

Love this thread as i am moving house on Friday! i have the toys stashed in boxes that the movers won't see, but that won't hide the large loop bolts in the walls in the dining room... or the large dungeon furniture that has so far been stored in the loft for lack of space... They will certainly raise their eyebrows when they go up there i am sure lol!

One other thing... When my buyers came for their second viewing, i let them round the house on their own. Upon coming back downstairs the lady came into the kitchen where i was waiting and said "It is just as lovely as the first time I saw it. And I remember the harp in the walk in wardrobe too." It took me a moment to realise that she was referring to the large padded post for the dungeon stuff lol! i had to quickly go from "But i don't own a harp!" to "Oh yes, the harp....there's loads of space to store stuff!" LMAO!!

Personally i don't give two hoots what the removal guys think; they are paid to do a job and what they talk about in the pub afterwards is up to them!

Paraffin pots are more commonly sold for vanilla purposes not kink. Doubt they thought a thing about it or about the books. They just picked them up and boxed them, they didn't sit down to read. I would be surprised if they even noticed the titles.

As far as the little one, no worse than snookums or some other pet names nonkink as well as kink people use.

You're making a mountain out of a molehill, they just aren't that interested in today's job to pay the kind of attention necessary to pick up on things.

Well... (Lucy Ricardo style) I'm known for being a bit wild as far as family goes and yet there were things I failed to hide well! That's how they found out I was kinky and dominant. I had the computer on one day and they surprised me... here was a submissive calling me mistress... lol That wasn't hard to believe for them. So they look at my movies... yes... the secretary.. hey mom... what's this? Well, you see... lol You really ought to watch that one! hehe They were scared.

So about six months later, they are curious... talk more openly and admit to some kink of their own. My man is almost totally vanilla (but very laid back), so our house is a nice balance of kink and calm. I have the usual gear laying about (stilettos, corset, leather and steel collar, rope, cuffs, literature) and he doesn't bat an eye. He also knows about my profile here and isn't put off by it in the slightest. When family or friends stop by, I don't bother hiding anything.

I think everyone into the kink probably has a plethora of family, friends, or neighbors who would be appalled at the thought of kink going on.

Therefore, you must "vanilla'ize" your home just in case.

For example, what if, heaven forbid, you were to get into an accident and be in the hospital for months (or worse)?

Who would "vanilla'ize" your house for you?

One possible solution would be to give a key to a good caring understanding open-minded friend who would be under instructions to remove the toybag if you are incapacitated in some manner.

Agreed on the pre-packing for moving. Been there done that, less likely to have anything go missing too.
