There are engagement rings, wedding rings, chastity rings.. someone has propose a ring for single people (finger type).

If you are single..would you wear one to show your availability status?
I think it's a good idea personally.

Nope. Don't like rings, they are uncomfortable and bug the hell out of me.

I would. I wore two rings for 19 years, only taking them off about three times in those 19 years and now feel strange without them on.

No. I woul not wear a ring with the intention of showing I was single by the wearing of a ring.

It's to vauge,w would any one know the ring was to indicate availibility vs just a fashion statement, unless it had the words single or available on it, and then that'd be just plain tacky in my opinion.

I am married but polyamorous and an open player so sometmes that pesky gold band gets in the way.  I often take my regular rings off and put on fun costume jewelry - a gigantic flower, a giant bee, marcasite...

Suddenly I become approachable.

Crazy, isn't it?

Just be sure the ring you choose is clearly not a wedding or engagement looking ring - it has to be very different, so people taking a quick glance will pick up on it.

Here's a link for the idea.

I think rings would be a real "cut to the chase" tool. Poly rings, single rings, bi rings, gay rings, lesbian rings, Dom rings, Sub rings, switch rings.... ect :).

I have rings on every finger and some have two and three, they never come off--My only hope is to grow another finger!

Isn't there an Irish type of ring with a heart with a crown on it?

If you wear it one way it means your taken, if you wear it the other way it means that you're available...

(I mean, I KNOW that there's this type of ring, can't for the life of me remember what it's called, or which position is which :P)

Hi Aravain

I think the ring you mean is a Claddagh - it's a pair of hands holding a heart which has a crown on top of it?

I wear a Claddah has a symbol for my x-submissive that I not only ruled over him but I hold a bit his heart in my hands :) (and he still holds a bit of mine)

The Claddah Ring has three symbols. a heart, being held by two hands with a crown on top.  The hands stand for friendship. The crown stands for loyalty. The heart stands for love. If you wear it with the heart pointed  towards you that means somebody has given their heart to you. If you wear it pointed out it means you are free to give your heart away. Hope this helps!

You're welcome!

A friend got me one once, but I had no idea of the significance of wearing it in different ways until you posted, so I've learned something there. :)
