If someone takes the time to send you a message, how often do you actually delete the message, without reading it?  I am not asking this in reference to someone who has sent you multiple messages and your patience is wearing thin, I mean if you are approached by a first time message, do you always read it, or might you just delete it without reading it?

Just curious.

Always read it.  Most of the time reply depending on the content of the message.

KyttynTheMynx -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/17/2009 11:40:10 AM)

For me, depending on the name, and my mood, I will either read it, or delete unread.

dreamerdreaming -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/17/2009 11:41:48 AM)

I don't delete them unread. But if the content of the first message doesn't conform to the stipulations I set forth in my profile text, there is no second chance. I block the person immediately and delete the message.

Messages can be saved to your other email address (the one you used to sign up on CM) without reading them, so when they say "deleted unread"  it may be that the person actually did read your message- from their other email.

IronBear -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/17/2009 11:41:55 AM)

Would be just bad manner to delete without reading unless the sender was someone you should have already blocked..

onlyfreelycaged -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/17/2009 11:44:41 AM)

I read them... but sometimes block the person, sometimes say "sorry, I'm not what you're looking for"...

TEMPERANCE -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/17/2009 12:06:48 PM)

I have seen several profiles on here that clearly state "no messages from men ... all messages will be deleted unread".  In fact i have seen that many profiles saying that i have wondered if im the only straight female in the UK on here....[8|]

playfulotter -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/17/2009 12:16:48 PM)

I never delete unread but only respond to emails that are polite and are not trying to shock me and/or do seem like they read my profile otherwise I just don't answer at all but I do read all emails. Also, if they seem like a form letter from a scammer or spammer I will block and also hit the "report" button too.

Arpig -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/17/2009 12:18:34 PM)

It seems that way sometimes Temperence, it certainly seems that way.[:D]

RCdc -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/17/2009 12:28:01 PM)

If we did not solicit mail and we are approached by posters who simply want to argue their point, Master deletes unread - with the caveat that all people who are deleted unread are politely informed that this is the case.
It is easy to fall into titfortat emails and much more responsible to simply ignore with a polite inital response.

If someone with terms like "sissy" or "toilet" or "cuck" in their screen name writes, and I don't know them from elsewhere, DELETE.

sirsholly -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/17/2009 12:35:13 PM)

If i get one of those charming "On your knees, Bitch" C-mails i will generally send a return note encouraging the fool to tell me just what he is looking for, how i am to act, yada, yada.

When the dumbass actually sends his windbagged response, i use the delete button.

CallaFirestormBW -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/17/2009 12:43:06 PM)

Typically, I read before deleting. However, because I have my bookmark set to the forums, I can occasionally go several days without popping over to the other side to check mail, unless someone specifically tells me I have mail to attend to.

Everything that comes to me is skimmed. If it's relevant it's then read and sometimes (at some point replied to) otherwise it's deleted. I've blocked one person since being here (since 2005) as a one-sided argument lasts as long as a one-legged ballet dancer.

olena -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/17/2009 1:11:36 PM)

Do not forget the bulk mail controls. So if the person has a filter like an age range for example. The message goes into their bulk folder and they just click on the folder to delete all those messages.

I read all my messages if they are the first one from the person, after that it strictly depends on what they have written and if I remember them.

thishereboi -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/17/2009 2:11:38 PM)

I have deleted a few based on name or profile, but for the most part, I read all of them. That doesn't mean I will reply, but I will read it.

SteelofUtah -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/17/2009 2:26:37 PM)

I am of the curiosity and the cat variety. I read EVERYTHING even the ones I know are from Male Subs who either can't or won't read the profile. I want to know what they have to say.

If I delete something unread it is because I already know what has been said because I saved it to my main e-mail account and read it there and then just deleted it when I got back onto collar me when you do that it won't open the e-mail some of the times and it comes back to you deleted unread when it was actually read.

I know of three Domme's who do that now with all thier e-mails just to INTENTIONALLY look like a cold hearted bitch.

DomImus -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/17/2009 2:48:12 PM)

I don't get much mail but I open every one. Sometimes I read them and sometimes I skim them and delete them. Sometimes I reply to the ones I read and sometimes I don't.

lizi -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/17/2009 2:56:20 PM)

I read them all and I'll at least respond to most to say no thanks, unless they're wank material, rude, spam or scammers- then I either report them or block.

DesFIP -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/17/2009 2:57:12 PM)

Back when I was looking, I frequently read the profiles first. If we weren't suited, I didn't bother reading the email. These days, if the subject line is obviously a come-on and not about a forum topic, I may still do it. Especially if I remember the writer from the forums and know he's a twit.

Honestly, if you write "kneel bitch" or "I am ur twue master" expect it to be deleted unread.
