So far I read them. Some have been OMG outrageous and I lololol ... gasp and lololol some more.

Thankfully I've been c-mailing a few really nice people- so all is a fun, joy, learning and new experience for me. And pretty much everyone has replied to me. I'm interested and so many have such well-thought out posts/comments.

Oh - yes I have replied and just say thanks, but no thanks (after I stop loling).

I really dig the feeling of acceptance and lack of judgment I've been experiencing.

SirsHolly, you might want to re-read this inital post.  It is about deleting messages, without reading.  We have all gotten messages from an idiot or two, read, deleted those, and hopefully, moved on!

All my best,

T

Vampz,

There is another posting on here somewhere, about acceptance, and in the thread somewhere was the observation that those of us in this community are no more (and no less) wacked than the rest of society.  I loved that point.  Of course, that being said, I do hope we would be more tolerate of our personal proclivities here than in general society.  But... that could just be a dream of mine!

I read all the emails I'm sent, I honestly don't get very many so it's not a huge hassle. Most of the time unless they're scammers I'll reply with a no thank you, or I'm taken and good luck in your search. Sometimes they'll come back and say they want to be friends, I give them a chance but usually it's a Dominant male who just wants to tell me how he's better than Master is. then I delete and block them.

Asherdelampyr -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/18/2009 1:57:36 PM)

I read everything
sometimes a bad screen name is picked and stuck with for whatever reason
sometimes it it just something humorous
I reply to everything to, just the way I am

brandi1379 -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/18/2009 2:02:00 PM)

I read everyone email im sent, i think its only polite. If the email is worth a response then i will respond if not then to the trash box it goes

SassySarijane -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/18/2009 2:45:56 PM)

~Fast Reply~

I read the ones I get. Some of them, usually because of the screen name, I will save to my email and read there so it doesn't show I've read them, and there are a few of those I have then deleted from cmail without opening because it is just not worth it. If messages you send show deleted unread, then that may be one reason why along with it going into their bulk folder and being deleted along with the others that went there or if the profile says no men and you wrote anyway, that could be why. Myriad reasons for being deleted unread.

Not sure how to do this, or why it matters?
Are people less likely to respond if you delete a message unread?

SassySarijane -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/18/2009 2:59:09 PM)

Good question. It is easy to send the message to your outside email without opening it on CM. Two clicks does it. I really don't know if it makes them less likely to try contacting again or not. I only do it once in a while because of the username. Some I have gone ahead and opened on CM and replied to after reading them off site and some I just deleted. I will say it is very rare that I do delete unread from CM, but I have done it with those very few that just were not worth further messing with.

Asherdelampyr -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/18/2009 3:02:03 PM)

thanks

VampiresLair -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/18/2009 3:05:19 PM)

I will look at the profile and decide. Most obvious scams or direly bad matches are deleted unread, usually from people looking for things in their profiles that were my hard limits even when i was looking

i did read it hon. As i said...i will encourage a response from someone who is a jerk or obviously did not read my profile, then delete the (no doubt long winded) response unread.

Real_Trouble -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/18/2009 9:03:32 PM)

I almost always read them.

I often delete directly after, but you never know when you will find something interesting and unexpected in an email.  I would have missed one or two that turned out to be very interesting discussions if I just bulk deleted things, even though the majority of what I get deserves that treatment.

If someone deletes something I sent unread, who the fuck really cares?  Not I.

Their loss.

LadyPact -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/19/2009 8:22:59 AM)

Some of them I will delete unread.  As many of the female Dominants know, we will have certain folks pop up in email every month or two that we've already told we have no interest in them.  The thing is, they send form letters over and over because they've written so many of us that they can't remember who's shot them down and who hasn't.  If I recognize the screen name of one of these folks, they get deleted unread and then blocked.

I used to only block people who were rude or disrespectful. but then as the repeaters kept showing up over and over, I've pretty much gone with the practice of blocking them.

~fr

I check the profile first, then, delete unread, if warranted. Examples of messages I deem delete-worthy include those from American or European fashion models weighing 50 pounds and stranded in Nigeria, or experienced slaves recovering from the death of their much older Masters, or cruelly turned out by a heartless bastard, staying with a friend, and dying to serve the first real Master to cough up some gas money or air fare.

sblady -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/19/2009 9:37:07 PM)

I delete without reading if their screen name is offensive; or if the screen name strongly suggests their love for a fetish for which I have little or no interest.

sugargirlxxx -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/20/2009 3:01:26 AM)

I read all. If offensive I usually respond with *not interested*

DemonKia -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/20/2009 6:50:35 AM)

FR, after read thru

lol

I've gotten bored with reading mass-mailed form letters, fetishist obsession communiques, & so on . . . . . & I feel no more obligation to read all that stuff than I do to read all the junk mail that shows up in my snail-mail box . . ..

So. I've constructed a somewhat elaborate, almost Rube-Goldbergian, spam trap between the three profiles I maintain . . . . . The end result of which is that this profile, my main one, gets relatively little of the completely inappropriate emails, buffered by plentiful use of the 'block' button . . .. . & the spammalicious stuff sent to my top & bottom profiles goes straight to bulk mail, where I unabashedly delete unread .... & it's working really well, I'm feeling smugly pleased with myself . . . [8D] . . .

For me, if there's no attempt to view my full profile & connect with me, the whole person, there's zero point in even reading their email . . . . . Thus far, when I check the bulk mail folders they're full of mail from those who never bothered to open the full profile -- voila . . . . .

lusciouslips19 -> RE: Deleting unread... (6/20/2009 6:55:27 AM)

I deleter scammers and pests. But I always read a first e-mail. Its when they wont leave me alone that I delete unread and block.
