Once upon a time, I had high speed internet, with RoadRunner. Now, I have a semi-shitty wirelss aircard thing, from AT&T and Franklin. I'm looking at satellite service, maybe Hughes.net or Wild Blue. Any thoughts on these, and what do you use to surf?

Different country but Ive  had highspeed, since 1998 or nine Ithink, its been a long time. Before that it was dialup before that was commodore and the 1200 baud.
I have to admit to being spoiled and loving highspeed, and would be horrified to have to go back to something else.
Off Topic, but Mr Level, it is so lovely to see you back among us, you have been misssed as Im sure you know:) hugggggs ya I Hope all your family are well and that you are back to stay.

i have lite speed from ATT. I teaching myself patience and am not spending extra money just to get nowhere faster. I surf the net all the time looking up information that I seek without any problem of it being lite speed.

Is that dial up, or?

Simple DSL.  Which I could not get at the old place- but the house 20 feet away could.

They tried to up my rate.  I said no.... XYZ has it for $14.99 a month...can you match that?   They did.   If not I was going to go with VTISP.    Google it.  $4 for 150 hours.   it cuts off to the $3.95 is just that- not a penny more.- easy to cancel and almost as fast as DSL.

Hi pahunk. I just looked at that VTISP site, it sounds decent, but I wonder if it is faster than what I have.

My AT&T doohickey makes watching youTube a horror show, and I get kicked off line..... that shit really irks me.

Levelicious!!

I have some kind of dsl through Yahoo/ATT.  It is fine most of the time, though sometimes it becomes achingly slow.  It's so much better than dialup...  I had a friend who had Hughesnet, but in her neighbourhood it went out constantly.

Level, Hughes and WildBlue are perfect for rural people who can't get cable to their homes.  It's pretty pricy.  If you can go with DSL, go for it.

I have a Qwest connection.  It's basically that or Comcast where I live.

I've heard good things about FiOS if you can get it.

I love my Verizon Wireless Air card.  It's about $60 a month, but worth every penny.  I tried the Verizon DSL but it sucked, and their repair service was even worse.  I would have ditched Verizon altogether, but since my cell phone contract is with them, it was the easiest way to go.

Soooooooo good to see you back!!!!
