Welcome back, Level!

My my honest and fervent advice?  Stay away from satellite.  Though they claim high speeds, their claims are based upon ideal usage (ie, no one else using it at the same time).  You'll find in reality that you'll be lucky to get dial up speed on a good day.

First Things First! Hello Level!!!

You can go to Speakeasy.net and see how fast you are running.

I am on the end of a long dsl line and I was getting 380s down and 320s up.
I found after just changing the telephone cord from my jack to my modem I
now run low 800s down and 350s up.

Dry loop dsl, dsl with no phone line is now avaliable in the southwest.
I will post some links. I am about to drop my land line and go pure cell
and dry loop.

Dry Loop Links:

Att

Internet sites about it: Consumerist.com & dslreports.com

Good to have you back.

Levelicious!!

I have some kind of dsl through Yahoo/ATT.  It is fine most of the time, though sometimes it becomes achingly slow.  It's so much better than dialup...  I had a friend who had Hughesnet, but in her neighbourhood it went out constantly.

Hey there, pretty lady  I've heard more bad than good, regarding both Hughesnet and Wild Blue.

And, I just got off the phone with a buddy of mine, he told me that the Verizon aircards beat the pants off the AT&T ones like mine. Food for thought...

Level, Hughes and WildBlue are perfect for rural people who can't get cable to their homes.  It's pretty pricy.  If you can go with DSL, go for it.

I have a Qwest connection.  It's basically that or Comcast where I live.

I've heard good things about FiOS if you can get it.

Thanks for the response, Steven.

I wish I could get DSL, but no such luck!

I love my Verizon Wireless Air card.  It's about $60 a month, but worth every penny.  I tried the Verizon DSL but it sucked, and their repair service was even worse.  I would have ditched Verizon altogether, but since my cell phone contract is with them, it was the easiest way to go.

Soooooooo good to see you back!!!!

Thanks, dear lady

Soooo, you have the Verizon, and it's a good service? Does it handle youTube and the like fairly well?

My friend said they ran it from Texas to Florida, and did not lose connection once. He was impressed with it.

Treasure, I've been seeing the same thing. Read several message boards, and they were tearing both services up.

Hey Outlier  Thanks for the wb, and the links, it'll give me some researching to do.

According to my device, I'm sending 68 kb and receiving 270....
