I was with one girl who was heavily into tantric sex. She loved to ramble on about chakras, and spirit winds, and other things that made my head ache and my sense of logic reel. But she was hot, and I was younger and more willing to listen to stupid things for sex...

Then she yelled at my balls for twenty minutes.

That was my experience with tantric sex.

now that was indepth and sort of what I was looking for, thank you.  I do not do breathing, chants, mantra's, or have a guru.  I do however, believe in the divine and that religion has perverted a natural human need, by implying that sex is vile.  Sex for me is grounding, it calms me, it quells anger and frustration, it makes me content.  It is something I cannot do casually because for me it is what connects me to someone.
I don't know about life energy but bliss is more than possible.

That was my initial thought on this thread.  I have seen many people talk about this now as if it is a newly discovered old tradition better, more fabulous than what we do now.  Like Kabala, for me this rediscovered tantric sex seemed .. i dont know, trendy.  I like sex.  I have liked it for many many hours at a time.  :)
And I would love to know that other people can feel that joy in sex, no matter what the distance between two bodies may be.

but I just cringe when people say things like "I do tantric sex and it is "better" than regular sex/bdsm/whatever" as if calling it something changes the depth at which you do it.

Thank You GYPZYQUEEN for expressing your wisdom and experience so clearly, clearing up misconceptions. You give us much to consider and explore. I've experienced enough to appreciate the trust of what you've written and know i have much that i need and want to explore in Tanttra. In M/s i find a way of living energized by erotic energy but extending to all of life including sex and beyond.

Just a little story.

As i was 19, i was sitting with a new female friend in my flat, we talked about Sex and our opinions or our reflections about it.

She was 6 years older than me and she suddenly said: Oh, you are making tantric sex, that's great!

I let it rest and phoned some days later an older friend who was heavily into buddism and knew quite a lot about asian relgions and cults. I told him everything and he said: Would you please give me the telephone number of t her, since 5000 years Tantriker are looking to explain and define Tantra and she knows what Tantra is!

It was naturally a joke, but he explained me a bit more and said that i should stop to think about it and go on havaing good sex.

NO thats not what they called it 20 years ago..what you had 20 years ago was good sex and in no way TANTRA

read post/ #18 if you so desire...

I do not wish to appear an elitest snot but I tend to wish  to educate in areas where I see misconceptions and misunderstanding..

Tantra is not better...it  simply has elements which can enhance lives..
Just as I do not profess to practice Buddism becuz I know the lotus position or say I am a plumber bcause I stopped up the sink
or an artist becuz I haev a set of crayons...
I appreciate it when folks are aware before saying they
have been involved in a 3000 year old sacred and ancient practise.

Others have alluded to the  "Hay I ben doing it"
and no they are not ( hey have a glimpse of the energy part perhaps)

The reason I point this out is due perhaps to the long and ardent study I participated in and greatly value in order to be a TANTRIKA and  I have not even touched the tip of a TANTRIC life..

Thank you for your point. Will look more into and see how it effects the souls energy and improves a persons life overall.

as with many things we often bastardize them in the west and affix our preferences upon it and call it "this" when we should really say it is our interpretation of "that" instead. as it has been stated it began as a spiritual practice. it is derived from hinduism and certain buddhist paths do incorporate the teachings. much like kabbalah was always meant to be used in conjunction with other jewish teachings, the same is applicable with tantra.

it isn't something one masters overnight. the discipline it takes to develop and master breath control is a feat in itself. and then there's the activation of kundalini as well and there are many philosophies regarding how this occurs and some not so pleasant stories about things going wrong too. the really funky thing about knowledge and wisdom is the realization that right is a very subjective word. while most would optimally seek to discover the path from its truest source, the realities of such is that many won't if they don't have a real desire and affinity towards the tenets it professes.

tantra is both beautiful and a valid way for relating. many things can be enjoyable in the physical and spiritual sense if we actively seek the divine around us. simply because a person is unable to or elects to avoid such doesn't invalidate the experiences and beliefs of those that do.
