Lately I have been seeing a lot of references to Tantric sex. I first heard of it when sting mentioned it. I see that actress heathergraham also enjoys it.. And now I popped on here and on the main page where I start out my day I saw 3 profiles pass by that mention tantric sex. So I looked it up. Seems like normal sex to me. What is tantric sex to you? Do you engage in BDSM trantic sex? What is the difference between sex/bdsm in what it is that we do, vs tantric sex/bdsm? I will admit to being lost. Kyst

Tantra as it applies to sex covers practices that are intended to get you higher than just going at it freeform. Someone said once, if you consider sex as sacred then you might be into Tantra. Ahh... lol now this just brings up another question for me. I enjoy sex and for me it means I don't do it casually. I believe sex connects me deeper to a partner I have already chosen for other reasons. Is this sacred? lol I don't know. I wouldn't say I do tantric sex, as I don't focus deliberately on breathing techniques, but absolutely sex is sacred to me, and what we do in BDSM is also a sacred act. It's one reason I can't play with just anyone.

Tantric sex is basically a way of finding your 'points' and achieving orgasm from places other than the usual genital areas or acheiving orgasm without the use of touch but using other stimulation. It's whole body orgasms instead of it being just between your legs.[;)] the.dark.

Gods, I actually remember something from my college days! [:D] Dark has it right as well...orgasming at a mere thought without touching is considered the highest point.

Tantric sex is erotic, yes, but the goal is spiritual energy, not hot sex per se. It's not a kink, and it has nothing to do with BDSM. If you're curious, you should start first with Tantra. This will take a long time. Otherwise, all you're doing is trying new positions.

laughs I am SOO tempted to say, "It's like the difference between aioli and mayonnaise. Pretty much the same but one costs more." But in truth, I'm guessing just like anything else, it doesn't much matter how specifically someone invests an activity with attention to detail. The act of doing it is plenty to make it special. So if it's with whips and chains or tantric stuff, it probably all comes out the same in the end.

Tantric sex is a concept involving ways to bring to people together to enjoy sex on a deeper level. Those ways can be arrived at without ever reading anything about Tantric sex, two people who are deeply aware of and into each other can achieve the very same things, however, sometimes it is faster to read and learn from others than trying to reinvent the wheel. BDSM is the same thing, some people think they are "doing it all" when in fact they are barely scratching the surface and another couple who know nothing about BDSM may have a very intense and kinky relationship without ever reading about the stuff we do. As for energy, it is a funny thing. I don't believe in it in the way things like Reiki and Tantric thought make it out to be but at the same time I STRONGLY believe there is something going on. I have had too many odd things like out of character dreams shared with a partner on the far side of the world or felt things that were far more intense than they should have been otherwise. If you seek something more, reading about it can provide some interesting things to incorporate but I just cringe when people say things like "I do tantric sex and it is "better" than regular sex/bdsm/whatever" as if calling it something changes the depth at which you do it.

Mmm... my kundalini energy has been going nuts lately (and here i thought i had killed her off completely!) I've attended some Tantric workshops which were very moving. If there's a weekly New Age or other alternative paper in your town, i would check it out and see if you can attend an intro class. Most larger cities have at least a few. It's certainly worth the experience.

OP: I have studied with a "graduate" of OSHO in INDIA an am considered a tantrika.. I appreciate it when posters have looked up a bit of info before guessing.. Western notions of Tantra are based on a PROFOUND misunderstanding.. of the TANTRIC path..which confuses tantric bliss and ordinary orgasmic pleasure.
