ORIGINAL: Vendaval I used to enjoy flying even though seated in coach or economy. It was much less annoying until the security became endless and the airlines started charging extra for what used to be included in the price of a ticket. Of course extra security is needed now but some of the steps taken have been over-kill. That is another thread though. I absolutely agree. I used to love flying, to just about anywhere... Ok anywhere less than 8hours away. Now, the whole thing is such an ordeal, that I think about flying to a favorite spot, which was previously an 1hour flight/2hour deal man and is now a 4+hour endeavor, and than forget it. M Same here. I used to just love flying, partly for the sheer fun of it and partly because I just like traveling and flying is the most time-efficient way to do it. I now consciously travel less than I used to simply because I've come to hate the experience of flying. The crowding, the delays, the increasingly terrible customer service from the airlines... the only thing it's got going for it anymore is that it's still the quickest way to get from one city to another, but every other aspect is such a downside, it more than balances out the convenience factor. My next trip to California, I'm seriously thinking of driving my Subaru from Minnesota. It would be more expensive, and take more time, but if you factor in the money I'd be saving on a car rental, it really starts to look like a much more attractive option that flying in a sardine can full of rude, noisy people. The only problem is, I just don't think I'd enjoy driving a standard transmission up and down the cliffsides in San Francisco.
